A Glass Eye? A recipe item?

Ok, I looted a glass eye off a recondite bandit in Paludal Caverns the other night, and I've been trying to find what on earth it's used for. The only two possibilities I've seen so far are on Allakhazam's page for it, and the suggestions are that it helps you get more Greater Lightstones and Lightstones, and the other is that it's a recipe item. That's why I'm here! Does anyone know if it's for a recipe and if so, where can I get info on it? I don't want to trash it if it's something good (although it's supposedly common, I only found one in the 2 hours I was hunting bandits with my group in Paludal). Any help is greatly appreciated.

I looked that bugger up myself and could not find a use for it either.

Quite likely it was a quest item for a quest that never actually made it into the game. There are several itmes scattered here and there that have no use at all still.
