ok I am about to take Salvage 1 but I haven't found any info on how worthwhile this actually is I just saw somewhere that slavage3 was about 25% chance to salvage so mathematically I woul assume about 8% and 16% do lvl 1 and 2 but is there anyone that knows if its a set percentage or what?

    Thank You

I doubt many people have done much testing in the salvage 1. About 15% sounds good for salvage 2 based on my experience with a level 68 enchanter that has it.

In general if you are going to do trade skills, buy all the salvage levels you can (and or keep saving for them). When you are skilling up, it can mean extra attempts (i.e. another chance at a combine from the salvaged parts) and once you are up to high level combines saving even one expensive item can make the AAs worth their value.

I never checked my salvage rate before I bought level 3...

But at level 3 mine fires often enough that it made me question someone else's findings recently.. I tend to get better than 25%, and often get 2 or more items returned.

a recent batch of Brut Champagne gave me the following results. (actually made to work my AT up, brewing was just a *well if I gotta get drunk may as well do it on non triv combines)
I did not keep track of total combines, just the failures and Salvages..

12 outta 20 failures I salvaged something, and 5 of those times it was 2 or more items.
I did get 9 skill ups in brewing... and my AT is now maxed again.

Actually, that was a below-average run (as far as salvaging.) Salvage doesn't fire on 25% of the number of failures. It fires on 25% of all "lost" items on failures. In your example, 20 failures would lose 120 items (6 items per combine.) Of those, you salvaged 18 ( or 15%.) On average, you should have recovered 30 items.

Basically...yeah, it's worth it (unless you don't plan on doing much tradeskilling.)

ok I tested it out only a little but I had 18 failures 2 items per combine and recoverd 1 item with salvage 1 which is 36 chances for it to fire off with only 1 salvage maybe I just had a bad run I will continue to track it

I have salvage 1. It doesn't fire that often, but it did fire on my first (failed) try to fire my new artisan tradeskill charm =) (Second try was a success)

                  min level 60

I keep thinking about getting Salvage for my tradeskiller, but she spends so much time on tradeskills that she never seems to get much xp. Currently she's level 57, and with the recent changes to AAXP I was considering doing some AA grinding to buy Salvage, but then I checked and saw that I also have to get to level 60 before I can buy it. What's up with that? One of the reasons I enjoy tradeskills is that they generally don't require you to level up a bunch.

Love any chance to save components. Even a small one. It's well worth every AA spent on it.

But ... there are times when I curse Salvage up and down, trust me, lol.

Like the last time I made an AAAA for someone and failed the final trivial combine ... and salvaged only the class 6 battery.

Sometimes I swear Salvage aims at the cheapest components first, heh.
