  • Recipes not shown properly

I am currently having problems with my recipes. I open my Spell Research Kit, type in what i need and the recipe is shown with the graphic on the right hand side of components i need. I mouse over the graphic to see what items i need and i get nothing. This happens to all my containers, even tried guild trade containers...

I have asked a few tradeskillers i know, and they don't appear to be having the same problems.

I am using the default UI. I have done a complete file check. Deleted default UI folder.

    Any ideas?

The only time I had a problem any where similar was when I had forgotten to left click on the name of the recipe I wanted, but I don't think it showed any graphics in the recipe part at all then. Could it be a bug?

      Should try zoning or camping.

        Zoning, camping does not help.

Say i bring up the recipe for a Runic Parchment. On the right hand side, i will get the graphics for Celestial Cleanser, Runic Parchment Solution, and Smudged Runic Parchment. If i mouse-over those items i get nothing.

so you are missing the "tooltips" (the text that appears when you mouse over something) ?

IIRC, there is an option in eq somehwere that disables tooltips, although darned if I remember where to find it, hehe

I believe there is a way, also...but also I can't remember where. However, I will add that when TSS went live, for a couple of days or so, I was unable to get tooltips on my buff window or my pet window. It cleared itself up without my intervention. /shrug

Are you missing you buff timers also when you float mouse over it? If so, the only way i was able to fix this was with a comp reboot.

EQUI_ItemDisplay.xml for Items and for Spells it would be EQUI_SpellDisplay.

Make sure both of these files are inside the EQUI.xml as well as in the uifiles default folder.

I hope this is what you are referring about.

Yes, i am missing them also. I have rebooted PC many times, since i have to deal with the west video bug...but i'll leave that for another rant on eq message boards

I have these files listed. Reloading default UI and deleting and re-installing default from EQ patcher also does not work.

Anyone else running default having problems? Perhaps an oversite when TSS came out? Most people i know run their own UI's, since they find default ugly. I keep Default so i would not have to deal with UI issues.

I appreciate all the responses, sounds like we are on the right track

Munnster - Looks like it's a long standing issue with EQ. I found a thread in the Tech Support forums that was dated August 2004.

Basically what it said was to reboot, reinstall UI files and check to make sure "Allow Context Menus" is set. All of which you have already done.

Darn it, was hoping we could help you.

Actually, you all helped tremendously. I went ahead and disabled "Allow Context Menus" and then re-enabled it. It now works
