Done at least 30 above 300 trivial succesful combines, and its still at 0%. Bah, many of them are above 350 as well, so pretty tough to succeed at times.

No idea what is going on though.

Its always equipped, always activated. Though I am wearing the Skull of Den Lord Rakban and the cloak of the spirithunter which both are switched off as they are 3/3. Hope this isn't bugging smithing trophy in some way. Though my 2 trophies that are 5/7 still evolve...

My roommate's enchanter is having the same problem. He's done about 40 combines now that are within 100 points above his starting skill of 200 in research with at least a 75% success rate but his trophy (equipped, activated etc.) is still sitting at either 0% or 1% (I forget which, but I was shocked cuz I knew it should be higher).

Even though you can get the modifier from the trophy by equiping into the primary, seconday, and range slots, the trophy will only evolve if it is in the primary slot.

Back on topic, I found that the trophy is only ever a few combines behind the skill level, and the modifier helps to get more successes and therefore more skill ups. Given that quest is much easier at lower levels, I'd say it is much better to quest early and watch it evolve.

          Not true.

I always equip trophies in the range slot and haven't yet had a problem evolving. The old trophies could be equiped in the ammo slot, but didn't give you any stats if equiped there. Are the new trophies ammo equipable?

I'm at work, so I can't check myself.

Yes. No item gives stats in the ammo slot. However, skill mod works from the ammo slot and you can evolve a trophy in the ammo slot as well.

                Follow-Up

I wanted to follow up on this thread. Actually, I needed a break before my arm fell off from all the clicking. I made it to 290. Jewelry is one of the easiest because you can buy all of the components. It is going to get slower and more expensive from here. I went ahead and did the quest right away. Interestingly I tried to do the quest at level 33 but she would not give it to me. So I went back at level 50 and I was able to get it then. Regarding the trophy it lagged behind the skill-up from 150 to 200. At 199 it was at 3/7 (85%). I was worried but a few clicks into 200 it jumped to 4/7. So, as you hit each 50 mark it will make the evolution regardless of your percentage.

On another note I invested the 12 AA points into jewelry mastery. I think this saved a bunch on failures. The calculator on this site shows you will never be less than 95% but it just didn’t seem that way.

Regarding the path I followed this guide:
                http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/show...deskill+trophy
I didn't do the freebee quest in the beginning. It took like 10 min and 20 plat to do it right in PoK. At level’s less than 50 you get a skill up almost every combine. Also, I skipped a few items because it just seamed simpler. At 283 I didn't make any gem studed chains. I found black sapphires, jacinths, and diamonds plentiful in the PoK, Guild lobby, and the Bazaar.

Finally, if you enchant your bars you get more for the item when you sell it back. I did that with most of Platinum bars. Yes, I enchanted like a million bars. OMG! But it saved 5-6 plat on every sell back. To speed this up I made a hot key that casted the enchant platinum and dropped it into the bag. It goes something like this:
                /cast 1
                /pause 120,/autoinventory
The nice thing about this is you don’t have to watch the screen. When you hear the bars drop I the bag. I’d hit it again.

Is your raw skill 300? If you have not reached 300 raw skill the trophy will not start evolving again until you do.

If your raw skill is 300, then, as I said before it's time to /bug and go report it on the SOE boards.

I made my JC trophy at a low skill, perhaps 50 when I desided to rush for 300, and it basicly evolved with the skills, earlier on the trophy would be a few % behind to max evolved before the skill got there, but it cought up before I reached 300. I havent bothered evolving any of my trophys past lvl 6, I just dont feel the 3% is worth the work and cost...

On my alts I make the trophy as soon as they can. When doing TS I put the trophy in the ammo slot, and if the normal geerlock is still better I put that in the primary slot...this way I have the best mod possible and the trophy gains xp as well.
The beginner trphy I found to be much more easy with regard of the dropped components needed, hence my choice for doing them as soon as I can (which usualy is right after completing the free skill up quests (earlier those in Abysmal sea but nowerdays those in CR))
