  • Collapsible Quivers?

Cross-posting this here since I think more tradeskillers read this forum than they do the Artisan's Way. I think the more people we can get to support this, the better chance we might see it happen.

One of the biggest banes of being a Ranger is that if we ever need to use archery for any means, it is pretty much required we need a Fleeting Quiver for the innate archery haste it gives us. Unfortunately, being the only containers in the game that cannot store regular items, we're essentially giving up 10 item slots for what has become a mostly trivial skill, though myself and many other rangers still find it has enough select uses to keep it around. As it stands, I have 3.5 bags full of clickies or needed items, one open inventory slot for miscellaneous clicks I might need, and a quiver. This leaves me with 2.5 bags to fill with junk which get used pretty quick. Being able to give up that quiver slot when I don't need it would be HUGE! Since we already have collapsible backpacks and tradeskill containers, you think you can throw us a bone and make a collaspible quiver too? We've not seen a new quiver since Luclin (I think), and I think it's about time we're due for one.

This is precisely the reason I no longer forage. There is just not enough bag space. No other class is required to utilize an inventory slot to maximize their DPS potential.

Makes sense to make one... I mean fold a quiver up... does not sound like rocket science to me.

Err wait. No it is not gunna happen. Gnomes on this game are already making rockets.

Even playing a warrior without the foraged item issue I can agree that a new quiver would be a GOOD THING! Since arrows stack to 100 now I can play for over a 2 weeks before I even start to run low on arrows. Honestly 200 arrows is way more than enough to see me through a week of playing. Others will come up with different ammounts of what is sufficient for them. Anything to use the inventory slots more efficiently has my vote. Not necessarily that a new quiver is the answer. Possibly an AA that allows you to use one quiver slot per AA level bought to "attune" one of those "clickie items" to a quiver slot?
(heh, yeah right I know how much code that would require to be re-written... a new quiver would be be less by far; and it would mainly only appeal to rangers and the oddball warrior like me who runs around with bags full of weapons/throwing items to keep all the skills up)
Wether tinkered, tailored, quested or bought with AA points it sounds like a good idea to me.

I guess in general this is a good idea, but if the summoned quiver was not as good as Fleeting Quiver then why would anyone use it instead?

Maybe if it was, say a 4 slot quiver, summoned pre-filled with 4 stacks(100) of no drop summoned arrows? Would be great for rangers pre-Endless Quiver...

            too good, perhaps?

Not a tradeskill answer at all.. but what if they implemented a new tribute effect that gave quiver haste?
Ok, it's kind of a tradeskill answer since tradeskills tend to fund tribute.

At risk of being heretical, why not just make quivers able to hold any kind of item, like a normal bag? I know it breaks the immersion of a quiver being only for arrows, but it could be the simplest change that fixes the problem. For lore reasons, you could think of the non-arrow items being stuffed at the bottom of the quiver, with the arrows on top for easy drawing.

Honestly if we are going to really think about this then why not just give everyone an ammo belt. Works just like the potion belt only its just one slot. AA arc beginning at lvl 51 3/6/9 for 10/15/20 percent haste bonus for archery or throwing. This could make everyone happy. Keeps the Fleeting Quiver market beneficial for the lower levels and opens up an inventory slot when you finally obtain the aa's to use this effectively.

Seriously, is anyone really going to complain if a monk can throw a shuriken a little faster because he is pulling it from an ammo belt, or a zerker throwing an axe from an ammo belt (ok maybe that would look funny, but hey its everquest right).

I really dont think this would be that hard to implement either, the coding is pretty much already in place with the potion belt, would just need to add for the haste through aa's and ofcourse some blocking code to prevent those ingenious minds from using both the Fleeting Quiver and max the haste aa's LOL.

The potion belt does nothing more than create a hotkey for items though. You still have to keep the potions in your inventory so it's not quite the same. And Rangers have asked for quiverhaste AAs and quivers in ammo slots, all to which have been ignored in the past. I figured I'd make this suggestion because a.) Ngreth is the most communicative and open developer to players, and b.) because the concept is plausible and would be easy to implement. I think most people don't realize the limitizations quivers still have, so at the very least I was able to bring that up.

As one of those monks who pull... I certainly wouldn't mind a fleeting quiver for throwables. Always wondered why one never came out...

Then again, as a monk, I have a severe weight limitation, so I've almost always got empty inventory slots for such a bag.

Hmm How come I picture Ngreth with a Giant Golf Club bag for his "whompers" and handing it to Niami telling her to make it magical like dem Ranger's Quivers?

Come to think of it, a collapseable bar with presummoned waitress would be handy for us Dwarfs...just need to keep feeding the waitress tips (gold, silvers, plats depending on how nice of a waitress you gets), and have to fill the pockets with the right brews for the adventure.

Click and hit med. Get shoulders rubbed, beard combed and rebraided, have a few snacks and drinks...pure heaven. The others would look at ye wif jealousy I tell ye!

The best version would include a foot massager and mani/pedicurist that does minor bandaging too.
