Impeccable Kirin Horn of Disinformation!

Ok, before anyone yells at me I have searched this board as well as several others for the questions that I am about to ask and I have found several different conflicting answers. I am mainly looking for some sort of clarification on this quest so that I can finish this up.

I am on the last step of the Wood Elf GM Aug quest which is to loot an Impeccable Kirin horn. The problem that I have is when I went in search of information on what dropped this horn there was a lot of conflicting information out there.

1. Some people were saying that the horn only dropped in Stillmoon instances, others are saying that it dropped for them in Thundercrest.

2. Others posted that they looted the horn in a non instanced version of Stillmoon which is confusing because I thought you had to be in an instance for this to udate. I know that Kirin kills outside an instance did not update my quest log so I doubt that looting a horn outside an instance will work.

3. There was even a post that I read that said that you have to have a certain level of mission in order for loremasters to spawn. I can spawn the Diseased Puma mission which is supposed to have Loremasters in it but I have yet to see 1 Loremaster on track over several resets of this instance. (the mission that I can spawn with bots is a level 65 mission)

4. Regular drakes in the Creator mission count as Kirin kills which further confuses the situation.

5. Even the name of the mob that drops the Impeccable horn is different in several posts that I found on the net. Some say that they got it off an Isle Keeper others are saying it drops off a Stillmoon Loremaster.

Has anyone looted one of these horns recently in a Creator mission? I have enough troubles finding someone willing to run creator little lone trying to drag people to a Stillmoon instance. If you have seen a horn drop in a Creator mission did you get it off a Loremaster (do these even spawn in a creator mission?) or can any Kirin drop the horn? I have been in several Creator missions and I have yet to see a Loremaster on tracking.

Any help in clearing up my confusion would be greatly appreciated as I have put leveling and AAXPing on hold until I can get this quest done.

Unfortunately, I know little about the WE version...but I can tell you MY experience as a Vah Shir BST.

The horn can drop in lots of places...but none of them counted for my quest EXCEPT off of the kirins in Stillmoon instances (specifically, I got mine in the 'Diseased Pumas' mission.) The Loremasters were not incredibly common (there are, I believe, a few spawn points which can spawn them...but they spawn other kirins, too.) The Vah Shir quest requires killing these Loremasters in addition to looting the horn, but the horn I looted (that triggered the quest update) was off of a different kirin in the Puma mission. I saw several horns, btw, while trying to get the Loremaster kills.

Does your quest require killing a specific kirin type in a specific zone (the line just above the horn line?) If so, I'd go for instanced versions of that zone with that type (and, according to a lot of reports, average level 68+...I wish this was more detailed in the quest itself. /shrug.)

So, the horn can drop off of any Kirin in the Creator mission? Or is there a specific Kirin type that drops this item? I don't have the quest window text in front of me as I am at work right now but I do know that the text does not mention a Kirin Loremaster it just says something about the horn coming from a powerful Kirin.

It's going to be pretty much impossible to drag anyone to a Stillmoon mission and my bot army and I can only spawn a level 65 version of the diseased puma mission so that's out of the question. If the kirin that drops this horn only spawns in a level 68+ mission I am going to have to rely on Creator missions to get this done and pray for a lucky drop I guess.

Not sure if you can get drop in lower missions. The ones I got it off of were 68+ ones so can't help you with that. Since the claws can be looted in the lower instances I would "think" so could the horn. The required level for GM armor is 65 so there is no reason that the items for the missions should be in a 68+ level only. But to refuke that is the fact the scales and hides only drop in the 68+ ones so "shrug".

99% certain that I got mine off of a random kirin in a Creator mission, as that's where I was working on that quest.

I got mine in a Creator mission. I have not seen it drop off of normal (non-instance) mobs. But that's just me.

I see one drop about every 2nd Creator mission.

As was stated, you need a 68+ creator mission to get it to drop. With your bots only able to get a 65 average creator mission, you wouldn't be able to get your item necessary.

Level up your bots to 68+ and you should be able to get one.

I finally finished my GM symbol book just the other night. We shrouded to 65 to get the mission, and had no problem getting the impeccable kirin horn so I believe you must be mistaken.

Wood Elf version of quest

The horn dropped for us last night (all 72+) in Creator mission from an Isle Windguard.

Had one drop in the Stillmoon instance: Diseased Pumas. A kirin is the first mob you can kill, which drops it btw. We were all level 70 for it.

Same for "Best Laid Plans". Drop is on second floor in room shaped like a cross (you start on second floor for this one). Only have to kill 3 or 4 mobs to get to him.

Both of the above instances respawn as well. Good luck.

I finally finished my GM symbol book just the other night. We shrouded to 65 to get the mission, and had no problem getting the impeccable kirin horn so I believe you must be mistaken.

Did you do the mission while shrouded?

From what I've seen it takes your level when you enter the mission instance to determine the difficulty, not when you actually get the mission.

This is only my opinion based on a few missions, so I could be mistaken.

It uses your level when you get the mission. You can even test this with some extreme examples in freeport. There are some Freeport faction mission instances that scale up from level 20 or so, and you can shroud very low to get the mission, then unshroud and do it at level 70.

My little Wood Elf Druid didnt get an update from the horn in the Diseased Puma Instance. But she got it in the Creator Mission.

So here is my theorie. Vah Shirs get theirs in Diseased Pumas and Wood Elves in the Creator Mission. Same Item but a different ID.

Perhaps anyone can confirm or abandom this.
