Er. Make that a compacted backpack! I'm a bit scared of what would happen to the contents of a bag if it got eaten as a component in a spell.
well I definitely don't want it to be a bag you buy from a vendor.

And yes... I want to make it a tradeskill combine. So yes, you will have to replace bags if you want it.

Yet another attempt to avoid jettisoning all old bags:

What about an npc who will dismantle a bag for you? Maybe an expert tailor in the PoK tailoring shop who is studying variations in bag-making techniques. Give her a bag and get back a dismantled version you can put in a tailoring kit to dye? (Oooh and maybe add just one new recipe for Hand Made Backpack + Backpack Pattern + Skinning Knife, or something, which would make the same dismantled bag, so tailors making a completely new bag wouldn't have to make it and then promptly go to an npc to have it dismantled to dye.)

Even if she starts out focusing only on Hand Made Backpacks, she could always decide to branch out and examine other types of bags too. And maybe when she's learned enough neat tricks she'll apply them to creating some nifty new types of bags. And teach the rest of us how to make them, of course.

I personally don't have a problem with this. I like new recipes.

I hope the recipe contains dye of some sort, so that you could choose the color that way.

Well in the case that it requires combines

put in >Vial of *color* Bag Dye< .. put in a NPC in baz or somewhere.. and hand them a bag.. get back an >Essence of "Bagname"< and use that to combine?

ooo how about *xx vial of dye* and bag token from Caerlynna, combine in aug pool. gives you *xx dyed token*
then when Caerlynna hands you back your bag, she could act confused... Like "I could have sworn when you gave this to me it was tan."
that would take care of the bags you have on you...like those 100% WR bags that are mob drops...
and then still add in normal recipes with dyes for the tailored bags.

I wouldnt want to have to get new bags for that reason >_>
being a monk there is NO way im carrying around Handmade backpacks for the colors..
I would rather dye my DoN bags / Leatherfoot haversacks ..

So no dyed tinkers bags, haversacks, or gm bags. If it would be possible I would like to dye bags I have instead of making/getting new ones. If colored bags have to be tailored NEW bags, tinkers bags and your trophy GM bags can never be dyed then since they are vendor bought or summoned(quest turn in to make perm.). How about at least making the tinker bag seller sell ones of different colors then, since they do already cost 5250pp to buy them. I would sell my current ones and rebuy new colored ones if that was the case. Will haversacks be able to be dyed too since they are tailored bags? Also how about each tradeskill trophy summons a bag of a different color.

Well one thing... only those bag graphics in that file shown in the first post have colors to it. I will not be doing any combines where the "shape" of the bag changes just because you "dyed" it.

In response to whomever wanted augments in bags. Well, the only reason augments went in so "easily" in the first place was that all items in the game already had "slots" like bags, only they weren't accessible in-game (due to a check to see if it was a bag or not).

Soooo, technically, bags already use up their "augment slots" holding all your crap.

I wouldn't look for regular items to gain "container slots" either... for the same reason.

                      Heres a thought..

Instead of it just being tailored bags...you could also do a smithed bag.
For example, if there was a recipie put in for a Deluxe Toolbox...

You could use the old Plate Armor Dyes to dye the Toolboxes Different Colors, and we could sell a Blue, Green, Orange, etc Deluxe Toolbox Token in the bazaar.

If a non-combineable container would be easier, it could be a Storage Box thats 10 slot giant.

This would eliminate people complaining about them not being able to hold giant items for bank space.

                      A Toolbox is currently smithed:
Metal Bits + Small Brick of Ore + Toolbox Mold + Water Flask

So a Deluxe Toolbox or Storage Box could be:
Metal Bits, Sheet Metal, Large Brick of Ore, Same mold or some new mold, and Water Flask.
(Sheet metal for those nifty compartments an uber RL toolbox has, metal bits to make hinges and joinings.. Ore to melt into the mold shape.)

                      Colored Deluxe Box could be:
Metal Bits, Sheet Metal, Large Brick of Ore, Mold, Water Flask and Dye Component.

You could also do two seperate combines:
                      First Combine:
Metal + Mold + Temper = Unfinished Box (Like a cardboard box that hasn't been assembeled)

                      Second Combine:
Unfinished Box + Water = Original Color Storage Box
Unfinished Box + Dye = New Nifty Color Storage Box

Anyway just my 2cp. Hope it sparks some ideas Ngreth

If it would be possible, could you add in an appropriate colored dye to the final combine of the Haversack to make an appropriately colored Haversack so we can have multi-colored 100 WR bags? This would solve many issues, although it would require everyone to purchase the new colored bags, which is do-able.

However, as far as just bank bags, perhaps a combine with a larger pelt or multiple pelts plus backpack pattern plus silk cord plus dye to make 10% wr 10 slot giant size bags?

For example, 4X HQ Bear Pelts + Backpack Pattern + 2X Silk Cord + (Color) Dye in large tailoring kit or larger = (color) handmade bag with wt 4.0, 10% WR, Giant capacity, just as a suggested recipie combination, triv it around 152 so it can be a skillup route if you want to farm that many HQ bear pelts and have a place to put all the bags, but there are many easier routes to 152 that don't deal with managing a lot of bags which you'll need to have inventory space for.

Haversacks and all sorts of bags aren't in that graphics file. Handmade backpacks, and some smaller bags are..Sigh... wish we could all /poke code.

though these bags... are MOSTLY art. So it is just a matter of continuing to steal art time to get me colored icons. (There is a small amount of code required, but it is minimal code time and usually something done every expansion anyway to add new drag icons)

How about just for simple fun, simply modify a hand made backpack recipe to use more than just a HQ bear pelt. So for a yellow bag it would require a yellow pelt , green a green skin/pelt. I do not know how hard to is to modify or make alternate recipe coding work so it might not be ideal. There are many currently unused pelts, furs and skins in game in various colors so it might not take alot of adding new stuff, but small changes to existing ones.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the LoY ribbon dyes for use to color the bags. They're easily/cheaply made too.
