Holpa Mak items ?

Because they aren't even listed here, I've been experimenting on the Holpa Mak items the little brown aliens drop in Shadweavers. They all have a "used in tradeskills" tag, but I haven't found any recipe that works, or any quest that uses them in a combine.

Are these just a long forgotten unfinished set or has anyone actually gotten them to combine with anything?

Without more details like the specific names of the items I'm just guessing, but there are a number of quests out of Vah Shir quests which use combine quest containers of various kinds and a variety of nearby dropped items. It's possible that these items you're asking about are used in those quest combines.

Holpa Mak Gor Plakta
Holpa Mak Gor Foosh

... and so forth.

As far as I can tell they are a leather version of the Xakra cloth armors for newbies. As the Xakra can be improved via tailoring, I've been trying to figure out a way to do the same with the Holpa Mak, but so far have not found anything that works.

Where the Xakra is dropped by undead and Shak Dratha, the Hopla is dropped by the Grol Baku.

My guess would be that Holpa Mak and Xakra Dat armors combine in the same way that Xakra Kel combines with tattered hopperhide to make Shaded Hopperhide. Holpa Mak items identify as "Rank Two Anchors" so I would think they'd follow a similar recipe. Xakra Dat is temporary and a lot rarer than Xakra Kel, though, so it's hard to experiment. Also, the shaded hopperhide has tradeskill tags as well, but no one seems to know how to upgrade it.

And on the subject of alien names... if 'Holpa Mak Gor Bopta' means stone studded hopperhide tunic, and 'Holpa Mlech' means hopperling intestine pie.... then I find their war cry ('I maku da mlech! Yoo DIE!') disconcerting. What is he saying he's going to do exactly?
