OK, let me preface this with "I am not in beta, am not speaking from firsthand or even secondhand knowledge, and am just making educated guesses".

I recall reading a while back about a tradeskill based charm. I hadn't heard anything since then.

A friend of mine, who is in beta, 2 boxes nearly all the time. His main is ~20 fletching points short of 2400 (he's a gnome). He does not tradeskill on his alt.

A group I was in were just finishing up the last couple waves on the arena challenge and we were discussing the merits of the charm since we all 3 had drachnid candles. (sorry too much spoiler - Ngreth)

I haven't heard anything, but a charm whose stats improved as your skill in the regular tradeskills increased is one that I would love to see added into the game.

Given the difficulty of maxxing out all of the regular tradeskills it ought to be a charm with some amazing stats and bonuses.

It should not be a substitute for the trophies, however. It's a different sort of item with a different purpose.

Come now, people. People in beta are not supposed to even tell anyone that they're in beta. Just because someone leaked beta info to you doesn't mean you can then spread it around. At least, not on our boards.
