  • skillup question

read through a ton of old posts, but is it safe to assume that you have a better chance at a skillup with item trivial closer to your current skill?
    statistically speaking of course.

someone said that you have roughly twice the chance at a skillup on a success as you would on a failure.
then someone else said that failing combines on much higher trivial items would produce more skillups.
i always felt that i got more skillups on the latter
    so confusing.

    any thoughts?

Play with the Calculator on the main site. If you want to know the exact formulae, they are also around somewhere, but basically, doing combines that you have the best chance of success on works better.

However, if a given high triv combine is very cheap and/or does not need much in the way of farmed items, that may still be a more viable route than going through a lot of lower triv items (eg MTPs for baking).

When I was poking around for alchemy skillup post 231 used trivals from rec cups (to 250's), hearty goblin blood (to 263) and deepwater ink (300+) and found only 1% difference between the lowest and highest. 1% is a small chance and deepwater is much easier to get and more common in bazaar than other alchemy stuff so i decided to go right to disstilate IX series
