  • Changes to GM gear and the Type 12 aug line with SS?

With the announcement of SS being released this september, i am curious as to if there are plans to continue the type 12 aug line and perhaps enhance GM DoN cultural gear. This would be lovely to know before i go dump dkp/ ton of plat to make focus effects that will soon be obsolete.
*looks hopefully at the house ogre for any little hints he might share*
    thanks!

I was interested in this question also as obviously no one is going to buy a focus effect which only has 50pct of the actually effect on it (at lvl 75, 5 lvls over 70) so i'm guessing GM gear is going to take a dive.
I'm sure GoD gear got upgrade to lvl 67 to lessen this effect, will SS see a similar lvl 72/73 focus effect change to counter the lvl increase?

That might be true if the only thing of value on a bazu or last blood augged piece of GM gear was the focus effect. But the other stats (particularly the AC) are also good. Considering there are plenty of melee characters out there using last bloods with useless (to them) spell foci, I don't expect there to be much drop off. And even if there were, there are plenty of bots and twinks to pick them up.
Also don't forget that the foci on last bloods are already only ~80% of the power of the foci that drop in the same zones, and about 75% of the power of the Deathknell foci, which are the only foci the devs plan to upgrade.
And finally, while most of them will be at 50% power on level 70 spells (spell haste foci will be at 75% power), that is only 20% of the new spells. I see characters everyday that don't have their 69 or 70 spells complete, and I expect the trend to continue into the next expansion. And for many classes the top spell of some types will not be level 70 anyhow. So plenty of people will still be interested in the caster focii versions of the bazu and last blood seals. And of course, there are the melee focii versions, which will not suffer from any degradation.

And sadly this will make the lower versions more worthless than they already are.

I still don't see the point of the lower level ones, but I did them anyway just to have the complete collection .

Actually, I'm more curious to know if Drakkin will have their own version of cultural armours. Currently, most GM armours require Metallic Drake Scales or Glossy Drake Hides (not including the mythical Coarse Silks here for obvious reasons). Using these materials would seem counter to the stated reason for the race. The idea being to protect dragons, not farm them for hides. Would be interesting to see how this is resolved.

They are decendants of dragon-touched humans, not drakes. The way I look at it, drakes would at best be viewed by dragons as pets. Although there may be a few PETA members among the Drakkin who would choose to splash red paint on the armor worn by the less enlightened members of their race, I think that the rest will have little problem wearing armor made from drake hides or scales.

Ever talk to the dragon (I forget his name) in the wyrm caves in Great Divide? He indicates he's not happy with wyrm hunting. I just /nod and left before he got angry with me. Wyrms aren't drakes, but neither are they dragons. I lump them in the same category as "kin".

I have all slot 7 and 8 slots. DoN crystal vendor seems to be all not 7 and 8. So you have these slot 4's 11's and 12's where do you find stuff for them? I need an aug central. I need a certain level, a certain deity, ldon points, crystals, a certain piece of gear, and the apporpriate aug then.

I have made more bad purchases and found I can't equip due to deity, level, or slot restriction than I care to mention. I made the mistake of buying my warr expert armor and have never been able to find more than one aug based on it for his deity. I junked that armor and went with something more steady and reliable. I'm playing raw pp purchased AC from the bazaar until I get to the PoR level, then I will buy a few (few) DoN augs. Crafted doesn't have that much interest to me because of the cost.

Did you send a polite tell to those people making other deity augs and ask if they could possibly make the ones you need?
I'm sure most traders would love to have an order placed!

If they are AFK consider leaving an email, lots of tells get lost in spam, a closed menu or if the ISP crashes, but the email will be there, and highlighted until read.

nate111, please do leave email for the aug crafter. i have devoted 40 slots in my trader bags to type 11 DON cultural symbols, but that only allows a full set of 5 deities, and 5 slots for special orders! so by all means place an order. there was one case where i needed the buyer to pick up the blessed water for his deity as i had run out and didn't have time right then to make a mule to buy it for me (he was really in a hurry) but in general i keep all the waters in stock.

also, i'm not sure i read your post rightly, but DON augs from the lavastorm vendors, come in slot 4, 7, 8, 9, 12. did i miss any? you do have to read each description though so it can take a while to figure it all out.

you could use a site like http://equtilities.com/ to help you figure out your augmentation needs =) that is one we found a couple years ago but it still helps a lot! there may be others out there also.

                          Good luck!
