I tried search but could not find an answer to this specifically:

After you do the refinement quests to refine product (in this instance taelosian wheat and taelosian mountain wheat). Do combines count towards both the lower and higher products?

Meaning, can I combine the backpack full of regular taelosian wheat I have, and whatever else it takes since it's reasonable to farm/buy, until I consistently get two returns, then convery my mountain wheat?

As a general observation, I did about 400 combines with basic Taelisean wheat, and now get 2 per combine every time when I do mountain wheat, so it does carry over. Although I note you are supposed to eventually produce 3 refined items per combine, usually after you had 'practiced' on a backpack full (around 200), but something seems wrong with this at the moment. I get 2 wheat every time, and have not had a 3 result in ages, despite having refined over 400 taelosian wheat. You used to get a random mix of 2's and 3's once you passed about 200, but the upper limit of 3 seems to have been removed.

Since the above poster ignored your question, yes both upper and lower types count. Though you can already get 2 returns by just handing your mountain wheat to the NPC.

The 3 every time is after 2 backpacks full (400) not 1 backpack. 5 stacks will get you to the 2 everytime, 8 stacks before you get 2+1(rarely at first). So one bags worth of regular wheat should be enough to get better returns on your mountain wheat than just the normal hand in.
While I haven't tested wheat specifically, I do still get 3 everytime from my dark matter refines, and 2+1 on my nihilite refines.

Thanks for the replys = ) I wasn't even expecting a hard target. I am familiar with the turn in, I would just rather get the refinement knocked out of the way as it looks like this item will actually have some tradeskill uses in the future.
