is handing me back all the pottery items that updated the task when I created them, anyone else had this problem?

Some tasks are create/make 10 items but hand in 4. Maybe you have given him 4 already and he doesn't need/want any more.

I bet you haven't fired them yet. Originally the pottery task required fired items, but people complained that firing was low trivial, so not a real test of skill. So the make step was changed to unfired, which is the high trivial step. The hand-in step still requires the fired item, because you do actually have to finish the item before handing it in.

That would probably be it then, I wrongly assumed that it would be the same item that you created to get the task update.

The pottery tasks are like that because otherwise people can have their more highly skilled friends do the unfired part and then only do the firing themselves, which is generally much easier. They had to have the task check for you to make the unfired part yourself. However, since it doesn't make sense for a judge to be looking at an unfired item, you're supposed to fire it up before handing it in.

I never really understood the need for the change, since if you can get the pottery task, you have the skill needed to do the combines (probably at 95% success). And while the pottery was changed, the tinkering tasks still have some items you can just buy in the bazaar and recharge to get task credit.

Tinkering tasks should be nerfed to eliminate the recharge shortcut. Has anyone told Ngreth of this "exploit" yet? Hmmm...

that is MUCH harder there is no nice easy step for me to work with. The system cannot tell the difference since it is exactly the same item :/

and it was basically player request that I changed the pottery tasks.

So the only thing that could really be done would be to remove all items from the tinkering task that are rechargable items.

And there are so few tinkering recipies that that makes for very slim tests.

I am still thinking on it.
