  • Progression Tradeskills

I heard over on some of the class boards I peruse that some top players are starting to get into the 20s.

I was wondering how the people on the progression servers are doing tradeskill wise. Who is going to be the first GM smith?? etc..

I hit 102 in smithing yesterday and have started selling banded. Biggest problem right now is that very few people have much plat. Getting to Fine Plate is going to mean selling a lot of banded.

Very true, it’s hard to even sell things at a few Gold, but this after-noon it was getting better and I was able to raise my price a bit so I can turn a little more of a profit.

Yeah, I'm waiting to see how the smithing does on the progressive servers. Some people wanted the old cultural removed (non-BD stuff), saying it was too overpowered. But I still think it will be a long time before there is a guild wearing full cultural running around.

It's more more likely the power-gamers will have full Hate/Fear/Kunark class gear before they get a suit of cultural made.

Heh, I started doing marmalade sandwiches in baking for Misty Thicket Picnics. I haven't come close to trivialing them yet, but I seem to be getting more skillups from them (probably because they are still yellow) than I am getting from light and dark blues, and I have a few hundred of them in the bank ready to go into picnics when I get the rest of the things I need. I am also at around 100 in fletching, but i want to get a little higher before I attempt my next bows to sell (I think its shaped ashwood next, I can already do carved elm with some consistency).
If you were me, and I were you, would we still be friends?

I hit 220 baking a few days ago and pushing 230 now. I'm at 219 in brewing (different character obviously). I was almost always on the edge of broke till a couple days ago when it all really started to pay off. Baking will go up only as fast as MTP's sell - I see no point in pushing it. One of these days I will take the time to go to 248 brewing, but it's not going to go any higher than that for a long time, as there is no reasonable way to get it beyond that at this point.

I got smithing to 130, but only because I got lucky and found a bunch of embroidery needles on a vendor. I will go back and work on smithing one of these days when I have a bunch of plat saved up, but will probably do it on a different character.

I have no 'real' character above level 5. I do have a bonechip level 9 druid that I am working up to be a foraging bot in EK.

I didn't really set out to be an all-tradeskill guy, but it's been kind of fun. I've gotten an awful lot of comments from "you're lying!" to "how can you make those already?".

At this point I think I will make my first real character when Kunark is opened - an Iksar Warrior, as twinked as I can make him.

              grinding away.

Well in the persuit of trying tradeskills for the first time on a serious basis. I started on the progression the day it went live, as soon as the servers we up. Harvesting rusted weapons from decaying skeletons and orc pawns. Slowly working my way through the grind of sharpening rusties to make tarnished and then converting it to ore. Making metal bits from there and progressing my way to small pieces of banded as soon as i got the coins together to afford the molds.
I have now moved on to other hobbies (or obsessions, your call) Currently on The Sleeper server i am a smith 132, potter 131,fletcher 102, master brewer 201, baker 197.

I have turned away from the tradeskill grind to face the EXP grind for a bit. I need to get to the cash making level before i can fund any more combines.

The tradeskills Making halas 10 lb meat pies only 4 days after the server opened was a feat i was proud of, only no one could afford them!
