  • News Item: Recipe Book Interface ?

I ran a quick search here, but then I didn't see any active threads about it.

I'm thankful for the TUI addition and allowing combines from inventory.

Is it something so recent, that I just haven't seen it yet in my default PoR GUI?

The tradeskill UI was added something like two years ago now. It is indeed a blessing for those of us with limited bag space. =)

Many people might miss it because they don't realize it exists;they don't understand that CTRL-right click is different from just a right-click.

Here's a potentially stupid question - apologies if it's been answered in the past, I haven't seen it though.

Is there any value in asking devs to allow tradeskill combine/autoinventory buttons to be hotkeyable?

I'm hesitant to ask, because I imagine this would make things easy(ier) for exploiters, but I have a genuine reason for asking.

I've avoided tradeskills in the past due to the high intensity of repetitive mouse movements, and the fact that this causes me great discomfort. I bent to the pressure and started skilling a researcher, though, and it occurred to me that rather than clicking "combine" "auto-inventory" repetitively it would be MUCH less painful to be able to hotkey, and hit two hotkey buttons, to achieve the same effect.

Crazy idea? Is it a case of something where it would be nice but the potential to exploit outweighs any benefit? Or am I a doofus and it already exists?

You can already hotkey /autoinventory. You might find a two hand approach easier (One hand on the mouse clicking combine, the other on the keyboard clicking autoinventory).

Brilliant pointer, thanks very much - I had a feeling the doofus option would end up being the right one

            Belkin Nostromo n52

As best as I've been able to discern, the EULA allows it to be used while you're at the computer, but using it while you're AFK will get you banned.

I've been using the Nostromo and its predecessor (the n50) for years now, though I never realized they can be used for more than one keystroke per button. I'll have to RTFM, I guess. =) That aside, it's an awesome tool for playing EQ. I've got it set up like a mini-keyboard for my left hand, allowing me to move, open inventory, target, attack, and hold down control and shift with a single hand, while my other handles the mouse.

I agree, I use mine for the monotonous combines like Celestial Essences or Purified Waters, but I generally do my skillup combines by hand. The nice thing is, you set it up to click the combine button and then hit a hotkey by number and it can keep making the subcombines I need, all the while I'm reading up on the final combines and getting my alt(s) into position.

Best Buy sells the n52 for less than $40.00 USD in Seattle, not sure what it's like in other areas. I hear it's great in FPS as well
