Would it be possible for your trophy to check if the summoned bag is in your inventory and if it is to give you a tradeskil container of the trophy type? Just a thought /shrug

      More code change!

I would relaly love to have 12 slots or more from level 7 bags. That would really solve the ongoing battle for the bank space.

Why is it that they have never made bags/containers with >10 slots in them?

They always said (long ago) that 8 slots in the bank was the max and they couldn't change it. Well, they have since added 8 slots (twice) and 2 shared slots. Obviously things can change.

Would it be horrible to make larger containers? Even for bank storage only.

I know it is a different game, but EQ2 has 100 weight containers with upwards of 32 (or 36?) slots now and some of the quest bags that you can get (no drop of course) are upwards of 24 or more slots also.

There have been so many additions to eq1 that are things that were included in eq2 at launch. I can't see why they couldn't make some tradeskill made bank boxes. Make the components not too rare, but with some subcombines at 200+ for multiple tradeskills (no racial or class tradeskills though)

Maybe use baking or brewing (or interchangeable) to make some resins for the wood. (150 - 200 triv) medium yield - uses 1 common drop/forage

Pottery to make the hinge and clasp molds (~200 triv) high yield - 1 common drop (velium?)

Use smithing to make the hinges. (200 - 250 triv) medium yield - 2 common drops and maybe CVT

Jewelcraft to make the clasps (200-250 triv) medium yield - uses etching tools and maybe an uncommon drop from a midlevel zone

And finally fletching to put it all together (335+ trivial) yield 2 -- just combine all the items from previous steps

This is for large (20+ slot) bank boxes, could have different recipes for lower/highervolume boxes and make the weight scale with the capacity to reduce/eliminate high levels running around with 8 of these, maybe start at 100 stone for 12 slots and add 20-25 stone per 2 slots.

As a side thougt, I'm sure if this were done that there would be people screaming to make trader satchels bigger (I don't think we really need that, do you?)

edit: and I know this would likely need a code change, but it is also not something that I would expect overnight.

and as to the topic of the original thread, this would open up the possibility of larger bags summoned by the level 7 trophies (I vote for 20 slot, make it 4 columns of 5 with default UI)

I don't think adding a 50% WR to coinage for the maxed GM bags would be unreasonable, and would be something that would really benefit the tradeskillers..

It would be nice, and a bit fairer, if the coinage WR could stack in a graduated fashion where the first would give say 40%, having a 2nd would increase the WR to 64, etc.

          1st gives 40% coin WR
          2nd gives 40% + ((100-40)*40%) = 64% coin WR
          3rd gives 64% + ((100-64)*40%) = 78% coin WR
          etc.

This would mean the more tradeskill trophies you max, the bigger benefit you see, but no matter how many you max you will never get 100% coin WR.

I'm not positive if coin weight reduction is separate from bag weight reduction. All the bags with coin WR I've heard of have identical percentages for item WR and coin WR. Sounds like something worth checking in to. =)

The basic problem is the way the inventory slots are ordered, adding 8(80) more bank slots just involved tacking 88 more slots on the end of our inventory, but making 12 slot bags available involves inserting 64 more slots into the middle(in 32 sets of 2). The problem with heavy bags intended to be bank-only is that currently the max weight of an object is 25. Neither of these problems is insurmountable of course, but adding 8 bank slots was a relatively fast and simple change that added more total slots than making 12 slot bags.

Hence the code change, I'd be patient enough (and willing to fork over $30) to wait for the next expansion, if they could manage to squeeze it in there somehow. Since I remember seeing that the next expansion is supposed to add zones for all levels, I would like to see some low-mid level zones where some of the components drop/foraged as well as using some of the common tradeskill components we are used to currently in game.

The inventory problems can be solved, and I think they need to be addressed for the longevity of this game. (some of us like to hold onto no drop crap for long past its usefullness as well as still retaining space for tradeskills and current quests in the bank.) Adding bank slots gets old, and the ability to store more of the same type of stuff in one bank slot (bigger bag) would be a great benefit that I think all players would appreciate greatly.

Also could add to the game higher capacity 100% weight reduction bags (give the tailors something to really work with) -- I suggest max tradeable bags be limited to 16 slots, anything higher would have to be quested/dropped. This would give a reason to put bags in some group/small raid content loot tables, make it an extra (doesnt count towards loot slot) loot. It would be great to be carrying around Quarm's treasure satchel (24 slots) or Mayong's bloody bag of parts (36 slots/very rare)

You cannot add something to the loot tables of existing mobs without altering the drop rates of other items especially if the mob is near the max number of items (read what is going on with sea dragon meat and Kelorek'dar).

Bag of Sewn Evil-Eye, Treasure Hunter's Satchel, (that other 10 slot giant 100% WR bag from Kunark dragons) are all prime examples of what you are referring to that you wish to see upgrades to from new(er) content that perhaps go a little beyond the 10 slot giant 100% WR (I think this is what you want), and I am all for that. I would love to see that increased. When the tradeskill trophies first came out I was hoping the level 7 would be that elusive 12 slot bag, but I am still anxious to see what Ngreth comes up with for the 7th level trophies.

I agree that changing existing drop tables would probably make more problems than it would be worth. I was really just using existing mobs as examples of what direction they could go to with future expansions.

... and I still think that the 7th trophy should summon a 20-slot 100% giant size bag. or at least summon 12 - slot bags and the permanent version would be 20 - slot.

Then as I stated earlier make some tailored bags up to 16 slot, maybe making common ones with 10% reduction and more difficult(more expensive) ones would scale up to 100%.

EQ was released in April of 1999. When originally designed, space limitations were a key part of the overall "vision" for the game. While much has been changed, patched, re-written and modified, the core code for container size hasn't been.

Yes, bigger containers would be nice. But, if they haven't changed in 7 years, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to change now.

The devs have commented at different times that the 10-slot-per-bag limit is hard-coded pretty darn deep into EQ's code. It's not simply a matter of changing one variable from 10 to 12 to increase the max size. As I understood it, it would be pretty close to rewriting the entire EQ item system and player storage system.

I think its a shame that the GM trophy's dont summon a container with a "combine" button for the respective tradeskill. It would just make sense that a GM smith was so smart that he could summon a forge when he wanted too, and omg how cool it would be

As it is now im just gonna be happy for my 12% mods, I just dont see the effort worth it to get them to 7/7.

I'm fairly sure you are correct on this (it appears from looking at raw data on Lucy that the setting that makes a bag a coin weight reduction bags is bagtype=0). But I was thinking about this today, and a solution would be to allow people with GM trophies to have a second turn in to change their permanent bag from 100% weight reduction, to 50% weight+coin weight reduction. I'm sure nearly everyone has one bag of stuff they carry around that doesn't need full weight reduction.
