  • Idea - Tradeskill XP

Since we already have the new trophies evolving if you perform enough combines over your current skill level, it seems a natural extension to add something like TSXP, the moral equivalent of AAXP. As you successfully perform combines over your current skill level in a particular tradeskill, you receive TSXP in that tradeskill, which you may then use to buy TS abilities, e.g., unlock additional recipes (a la factioning in WoW), increase your chances of a successful combine on certain recipes within that tradeskill, give your combines an extra chance at salvaging an item, etc.

    Thoughts?

Seems like it'd punish those who have maxed their tradeskills and make life easy for those who have just started. I dunno, the thought of having to make another 500 star ruby steins in order to unlock a pottery recipe just doesn't appeal to me.

      Also note.

What you are asking for is a code change.

The trophies were just a hack of an existing system.

Turning tradeskilling into a more complex, mature advancement possibility is something that other later-generation MMO's are exploring. Unfortunately, it would be very difficult and controversial to graft it onto EQ1 at this point.

Adding a whole tradeskill exp system on top of what we have now would be a huge job, major trouble.

However...might it be possible to add regular exp to the current tradeskill system? What I mean is make every combine (possibly success only) give some xp, possibly dupe the trophy exp system to give regular exp at the same time. This would give TSers a bit of a reward for grinding long hours doing trades for no exp.

This will never happen. Your reward for the long hours of grinding are your trophies and the ability to create the items that high level tradeskillers can make. Does it really make sence that someone can exp sitting in POK? possibly macroing large amounts of tradeskill attempts....

              Yeah as pootie implied...

              Bots.

Bots = exceedingly way hugely very unlikely to ever happen. (I try not to say never becaseu that could come back and bite me)

I was thinking of a minimum trivial of 300+ to acquire xp, which would seem to make botting to gain experience not very worthwhile, as they'd have to acquire all those ingredients...

Well it might be something for a future expansion, but if you need something that isnt store bought to use in the combine and is even possible no drop then does it really matter if someone want to use a bot to do his 5 combine for the item he finally had?

I know that BoT make it hard (impossible) to make item that sell back for more then they cost, but you can limit the affect they have in a system like this by the items they need to make the combine I would think.

i can't figure out why we can get better at tradeskills (e.g., salvage and masteries) through killing more monsters. (aside: monster exp is MUCH easier to get than smithing exp, at least now that i'm at a higher skill)

if we were going to have tradeskill exp, i would think that we would be buying tradeskill related AA (like salvage and masteries).

at least that is what makes sense to me.
