I was wondering if there was any chance of losing the POP progression flag requirements on this quest. With PoP being 5-6 expansions old now and very few guilds bothering with the progressions mobs, could we get the flag requirements dropped from doing this quest. You would still need items from the flagged zones.

Ooh I like that. So if you can get pushed in you can get what you need. That'd be very nice.

You should /feedback in-game or post on EQLive, while Devs do read the EQTC boards there's no guaratee that they will, and we also don't want to encourage folks posting Dev requests, as EQTC is really for the tradeskill community to discuss tradeskill issues.
I agree that it's a good idea though, should have been this way from the start, requiring minimum skills for combines is fine, but tying a raid flag requirement to be able to complete a tradeskill based quest makes tradeskillers cry

The fact that you must visit most of the zones to get supplies (like Plane of Fire), is bad enough. Along with the need for every tradeskill to be 230+, so 18AAs and skill ups.
And the biggest blocker will be the Hope Stone for the final one. That is a rare drop from elemental named mobs. During the 6+ months of my guild raiding in elementals, I don't think I saw more than 4 drop.
It's a LOT of work for an earring that really isn't all that great anymore. Look at the new PoR quested/task one and how easy it is to get in comparision.

All the more reason for the planar flagging requirements for the combines be removed. If you can get a better earring easier, there is no reason anymore to block non-flagged tradeskillers from doing this quest.Originally posted by Zacatac

Aid Grimmel is still a rite of passage for may tradeskillers much like the Prayer Shawl before it. Back in the day, I had no hope of doing it, even with 250 in all tradeskills, until I joined a guild that had just broken into the elementals. Many times personal satisfaction takes precedence over easier to obtain, better quality gear.
Btw, I got my Hope Stone off yard trash in Fire.

Going to be the oddman out on this one, but I'm strongly opposed to this idea. As the phrase goes, "If you give a mouse a cookie, he'll want a glass of milk." Let's say this goes live and the flags are removed. What happens when you're stuck on the fletching step because no one is selling the components anymore. You can't pharm them yourself because you don't have the flags. Same goes with the Hopestone. You won't even be able to finish the quest because the item you need drops in a zone you can't get. You might be fortunate enough to find someone who has done it who has an extra, but I doubt most people could. Pretty soon people are going to be complaining why can't they open elemental planes up to everyone and so on. Frankly EQ has been dumbed down enough in the past few years. I'd rather keep what little is still in place while we can.

As Nolrog noted, the Hope Stone can drop from any mob, anywhere in elementals. It's not that rare. I'd guestimate 1:1000. Three of the last 4 raids I have done in the elementals had 1 drop. (Fennin Ro script from a guard, Trash near Air Zone in, first round of Vines ring in earth).
Because the elementals are not nearly as hunted as they used to be, it wouldn't hurt to have the drop rate upped though.Master Artisan Kahmon

Our guild raid elemental planes usually and I have seen hope stone drop 4 times. Of course I got the first one to complete the earring. However, last one dropped on Sunday's raid in Air. It rotted since we have no need for it anymore. It would have been nice if it was not no trade. It's rare as it is right now. I could have saved it for some poor tradeskiller who does not have elemental access. Oh well.

You don't need them
You can do Aid Grimel quest all the way through without any flags.
He will not give you the text prompts, but you can do the turn-ins and go right through it. You do need the minimum tradeskill numbers.
Then for Hopestone you will have to get piggied into a zone to loot it, as it cannot be MQ'd for this particular quest.

This is not true due to the fact that he gives you some of the items when you speak to him. You *can* do parts (tailoring and fletching steps, for example) without the flags, but you cannot do the whole thing. I'm stuck at the baking step, myself. I have the platters, but I can't get the container to combine them in because I don't have all the flags.Originally posted by OlidanYou can do Aid Grimel quest all the way through without any flags.
