I appologive if this is a repeat question, but i have a question about the evolving tinker trophy. I have a skill of 283 atm and my tinker trophy is at lvl 5 with a whole 2% into it. This seems to be progressing kinda slow, i have been doing a lot of AAAA's lately and have not gotten it to budge, it this a bug or does it normally move this slow?

we need more information, such as your *BASE* skill (not modified by trophy) and the trivials of what you tried.

AAAAs would indicate that the pre-combines are being done, with a triv. >350. The AAAA itself would be under their skill.
"283 skill" - if that's the modified skill, base skill would still be >260 (assuming 8% mod), thus the combine (AAAA pre-combines) is less than 100 points above the base skill.
Tinkering trophy IS painful to skill up, I've got mine to 14% only doing AAAA precombines, that's a lot of AAAAs. (base skill of 300)
Tinkering just doesn't have the number of options with a trivial >300 that the other skills do. It will be a long time before this one is leveled. Honestly though, that's okay with me as I'm not *trying* to level it....after all, I'm only making boxes. But the extra 3% would be nice for them

If the trophy is level 6 it will not go up until you hit 300.
If it is level 5, you need around 10-12 valid successful combines per % point.

i got my trophy when iw as at 280 and have gotten a few skill ups, so more than likely i will hit 300 before my trophy gets to next lvl then i assume?
Edit... i think i just figured part of this out, on one of the write ups listed in another section when i combined my lvl 1 trophy with my certificate it was suppose to evolve to the 5th lvl and with a certain amount of of xp already into the evolved item equivalent to my lvl, but that did not happen i just got my lvl 5 trophy and 0% evolvedLast edited by darcmater; 04-16-2006, 08:55 PM.Master Artisan

Ahh okay, was going to send Ngreth some email.
My high elf cleric got his level 5 baking trophy at base skill 251. He's done approximately 275 successful baking combines of planar fruit pies, poppers, buckets and Bristlebane's Party Platters and his base skill is now 272 and the trophy has gone up 25%. I thought the trophy was supposed to track your skill level if you did the "difficult" combines, so I expected my trophy to be around 50%. But per Ngreth's formula, it's right on I guess.
As stated above though, I'll hit 300 baking skill but my trophy will probably be only 60-70% into level 5.Nature Goddess Daine Thornytree of the Dilidruids

Don't forget, the average number of combines to skill up goes up as you level, but the trophy xp is flat. So at 272 skill, even though you feel like you are almost halfway to 300, you have really only done just under 1/3 of the number of combines needed.

It gets harder to skill up as you get further in, and you tend to get more successes. So in the long run it evens out. But with Randomness inherent in the system there is going to be some mismatch (which is at least one of the reasons for the accelerated trophy exp if YOU get ahead of it..)

If we delete our trophy can we redo the quest to get the higher level trophy?
I got my tinkering trophy (level 5) at skill lvl 284 and since then leveled to 300. When I dinged 300 I was 15% evolved into lvl 5. I had another 7 combines worth of supplies so I finished them out and my trophy went up to 22%. So after hitting 300, my lvl 5 trophy seems to be going up 1% per combine.
If that holds true I will need 78 more combines to get it to lvl 6. 78 300+ tinkering combines is a lot of farming and a LOT harder than redoing the trophy quest. I just want to make sure it will allow me to reget the task if I destroy my trophy or if I have a flag from completing it that prevents me from getting task again.

Yes, you can destroy your current trophy, get a new quest, and complete it to get a new trophy.
I'm thinking we should add this question to the trophy FAQ's, if it's not already there.Sir KyrosKrane Sylvanblade

Thanks Kyros,
I apologize, I was looking for the info and came across this thread on tinkering trophy and figured it was a good place to ask. I should have searched more for the answer before posting (/hides head in shame) as now I see it has been answered in other threads.
Just glad to hear that destroying works though because 1% per combine to catch it up is way too slow for 300+ trivial recipes. I read that it would catch up quickly so was expecting more like 8-10% per combine. At 1% per combine it would be another 22ish hours of farming and that does not equate to quickly imo haha.
Adidos,
Flec
