Skill-up bug? Get point but no product

Was working Research last night and should have had my logs on. Several times when I got a skill up I got no follow on line saying I had either made something new or that I had failed it was simply:

You have become better at Research (XXX)!! -- or however the line goes

My question then is

1) Are other researchers seeing this?

2) Are people other then researchers seeing this? I just did a very brief scan of the first page in the general section.

I would say out of 30 odd skill ups it happened 6 times. The first time it happened I chalked it up to the odd lag spike or something. After it happened a few more time though....

Not a bug, you do get skillup on failed combine but not as often as on successful combine.

But he said that he DID NOT GET the message that comes out on a fail, either.

You know, the one that goes something like 'You lacked the skill to ........'


To add, I can't say I've seen this, but then I don't read the output when I am crafting, and I don't feel like finding logs just to look for this.

I cannot check this exactly right now, but I believe that if you FAIL a combine but get a skillup you get the You lacked... message first, then the skillup notice. If you are successful and skillup, you get the skillup notice and then the You have made... message.

Is it possible that you were failing, but skilling up and just not realizing the message was listed before the skillup?
