  • Upgrade to GM armors and Augs?

Any talk of providing upgradability to DoN GM Augs and Armors?

I think the chronal, discordant, bazu and last blood augs do a good job with that.

I would like to see more chronal available for non-raiders, and more discordant available for lower-end raiders, or groups of family guilds that get together. There are some available, but I'd like to see more options.

Now, I wouldn't object to new type 7 augs (ala OoW augs), or a way to boost type 11's in the future. I think that would be the natural way to boost the armor, but I wouldn't expect to see those for an expansion or two.

Or they may raise the trivials and add a higher version of "GM" DoN type armor in a new expansion. /shrug. Or keep the trivials the same and add new armor that is just plain harder to make and rarer.

All kinds of options. I would imagine they have similar ideas for the future.

I can't really give any details (yet), but we have had some talks and ideas about the Chronal Stones and where we envision their usefulness.

It's possible that a change may be made to the drop rates and locations of these in the relatively near future (probably two or three updates away).

And, to answer the original question, there's nothing planned right now, but it is something we do always keep in mind.

I'm a big fan of the cultural armor and how it turned out.

I think the high-end augs did a good job (of course I don't have any myself). I know when I get a tell from somebody in the top guild on the server asking me to make them a piece of GM armor, it must be working.

They'll still be of limited use while the AAAA's are 100kpp+, but I guess it gives people an alternative to paying the 'farmers'.

I love the GM cultural, I would like to see some other way to combine the chronal/discordant level augs other than the AAAA. 250k can be a bit daunting for the power of those augs, imho. Also i've had quite a few tank/melee classes asking if there are any plans to make the GM augs have regen or attack instead of mana regen which they have no use for. Any chance of that?

I think that the best armour comprising raid drops + tradeskill components is an excellent balance, it really gives a boost to the game. I hope that this trend will continue.

Was thinking more along the lines of Tradeskilled upgrade path, as there already exist raid-level upgrade paths, whether they be through AAAA aug's or through mob dropped, non-Don cultural items.

A mini-AAAA for chronal and discordant would not be a bad idea. Something that is half the difficulty and that would be at least half the price.

Instead of makeing the AAAA a container just make it have 5 charges and require the same materials as spell like compoents?

I personally feel that the AAAA is appropriately rare, I am able to sell as many as I see people shouting for them. That being said I do feel that they are a touch (ok very) overpriced for the potency of Chronal stones. I do support something of a lesser version of the AAAA maybe replacing the Steel with regular ore, the Shadowmane pelts with say Ragepaw pelts (much easier to get), the Gnome bolts with Bundles of small clockwork bolts and perhaps lesser gems. This would drop the cost on them considerably for use with Chronal stones. The other option would be to raid their power

One thing I noticed so far is that Discordant Stones really only drop from the Korlach Leviathan event. The thing that bothers me is just the overall rarity of the lower two while Bazu/Last Blood have more mobs that drop them.

One thing I could see the discordant stones being added to would be raid mobs in Illsalin and Stoneroot for example. Even a mob like Antraygus (though respectably hard) could/should drop atleast discordant stones.

By no means am I saying every raid mob needs to drop one of the four, but having some means outside of more than one or two events would be desireable as it gives more options.

As for a side thought... even bumping the Chronals to say 10ac 75hps/mana/end and nudging the Discordants to 20ac would still be fairly well balanced (due to the fact that the augs are Time level or so effects which cuts the usefullness for caster effects big time). Keeping the rest of the stats the same and giving that small boost would definitely make Chronals and Discordant stones worth the effort it takes to get an AAAA together.

I agree with the idea for a lesser version of the AAAA's. There are many reasons the AAAA is so expensive; time involved, cost of storebought materials, but mainly it's the cost of the Shadowmane pelts and the Clockwork Gnome Bolts. At 10 - 15k per hide and 5 - 10k per bolt, the base cost of producing an AAAA at no failures is about 65 - 70kpp. With the fail rate I'm still getting at 275, my cost is considerably higher. Add to that the hours involved in creating them, and people would be nuts to sell them for less.

A smaller version would allow the tinkerers to create them at a lower cost, removing one of the obstacles from people looking to use them for the "lesser" effects of a chronal or discordant seal.
