You can find Velium jewelry for sale in the bazaar quite frequently for little more than the cost of components.
This is because the developers made the sell back price (merchant) less than the original expenditure. Whereas I could enchant some platinum and make a platinum cat's eye agate necklace for about 106pp, then turn around and sell it back to a vendor for about 110pp, if I enchant some velium and do the same combine, it sells for less than the cost of the original velium bar.
I thought like Lilosh, why spend twice as much for +3 WIS?
Let me tell you, I have replaced each of my platinum items with velium ones. I suggest you spend the money up front. Especially since we are only talking about an extra 100-200pp per piece. This amount will seem like a joke when you get to high end tradeskilling. /em ouch my pocket book isn't laughing. ^_^
Also, getting to 200 WIS is fairly easy. Eeking out your items to get to 250 is a bit dificult without having a few HIGH end drops. You will be counting each +1 WIS you get.
