  • Need Help Putting Together a "Skill-Up" suit, Wisd

Hey everyone, maybe someone here can help me out.

I'm working on my prayer shawl, which has driven me right into the thick of a lot of tradeskills that I thought I'd never be doing. That being said, I'm finding myself getting more and more addicted to some of the harder and more expensive skills - Smithing, Tailoring, and even Alchemy again (I'm a shaman).

I know that the universal stats for skill-up dependancy are Wis or Int, depending on your class. Well, I'm a Barb Shaman, so I'm relying on Wisdom. The problem is, since I'm not a cleric or druid, I find myself geared more for HP/AC, while keeping my wisdom around 170ish for everyday hunting.

I'm looking for some help putting a "skill-up" suit together. Preferably, a suit that will allow me to keep my primary slot free for Geerlok tools, while pushing my wisdom to the maximum, for the cheapest investment possible. I've sifted through a couple magelo's on the board, but I didn't really see any suits geared toward the wisdom caster.

If anyone could offer any examples of good Wis based gear, that's preferably cost-effective (looking to keep the cost of the entire suit below 50K, if possible), I'd greatly appreciate the help.

    Thanks a bunch

take a look at Gwenae's magelo. Yes, she's a druid, but you can use most of her items. With kei she gets above 255 wis holding a geerlok

Recall that WIS effects skill ups, so you're going to want to still have a good WIS item for your primary when you're skilling up and then switch that our when you are combining for success to a geerlock.

You do know about the bazaar search feature, right? Just go to the bazaar, seach on Race: Barb, Class: Shaman, Stat: Wisdom, and then limit the slot to each of the slots where you have 'low' wisdom.

Let's assume you are starting with 100 WIS; You need 155 points of WIS to reach your ideal. Assume you get KEI before you start a skillup session (you can certianly afford the 10-50pp a KEI costs in the nexus), there is another 25 points of WIS. That leaves you with 130 points of WIS, spread around 20 slots that are capable of holding WIS items. 130 / 20 = 6.5, so you need to average about 7 points per slot to get yourself to 255 WIS, so consider anything you already own that is below 7 WIS as 'low'.

With your 50K limit, you can spend an average of 2.5K per slot: That is quite a lot as an average considering that a few slots can be had quite cheaply: Velium Ruby Veil is 8 STR / 8 WIS and practically can go for the cost of the materials (@ 490pp), Velium Jasper Ring is +7 WIS and usually goes for just under 300pp in the Bazaar. Also look to the Acrylia Studded and Artic Wyvern line of armor as the cloaks, caps, and tunics all tend to have WIS on them above (or at) your average of 7.

If you have a premium membership on Allakhazam's, here is a list of all items (excluding NODROP) that are usable by a Barbarian Shaman and have at least 7 WIS on them.

Do the Testament of Vaneer quest. I finished this quest in all of 20 minutes. The hardest part was getting the correct card from that jerk in Qeynos (hopefully the guy in Highpass is there.) I believe it's secondary and has about 10 wis on it.

Shield of Bane Warding has 20 wis doesn't it? It's free if you do it yourself and might find it's way into your regular gear.

If you have a pretty high tailoring, try and make yourself an Acrylia studded cloak, 10 wis. Also, Othmir fur caps are another thing, not sure about the wis.

If you're close to GM'ing a skill, make yourself a Trophy. If you are addicted to tradeskilling you're going to make one anyway and it has great stats and gives you a 10 slot 100%weight reducing giant container, + 10 wis (it can get a bit pricey.)

See if you can get your hands on Sea Dragon meat. Check the quests on Allakhazam to see what I'm talking about. Don't really want it widely known so maybe one day someone in the bazaar will sell me some.

If you're on Claws of Veeshan faction, get yourself a Talisman of Benevolence, 15wis range, easy quest if you're of a high enough level.

Don't forget stat foods, Misty Thicket Picnics and Qeynos Afternoon Tea are the best known ones. 10 wis.

Qeynos Badge of Nobility gives 6 wis on the neck slot (quest.)

Coldain Military Wristguard and Kromriff Military Leggings each give some okay wisdom (5 each I think. Quest)

Of course there is your Prayer shawl, depends on level.

            Man,

For 50k why do you even need to come here?

Just go to bazaar, search for stuff you can wear that has wisdom on it...

            Spend 2-3k each item...

You will make 230 without much difficulty at all (I am at 235 int and wearing approx 20k total worth of stuff... spent 5k total to get to 220, and wearing a 15k bracelet of comprehension).

Granted I started with a high int as an erudite wizard, but 50k would easily get you there.

Then just donate for a C3, and you're done.

20 minutes tops, much faster than coming here to ask a question.... if you had 3k to work with it might have been harder to answer, as you'd have to choose what items etc.

He's working on tailoring, smithing and *gack* alchemy. How long do you think 50k is going to last him?

He didn't say his 50k was for the actual skilling, just was going to use 50k on wis items.

So I will assume he has plenty of cash to spend on the skills themselves if he has this much to use for his wisdom gear.

Don't forget that for the shoulders you can get an easy +2 wis by just banging out the first two shawls quests (10 head and 4 toes).

One of my best friends is a bard (/wave Krystalsinger). She was having a hard time getting her INT high enough, so on the urging of another friend, she switched to WIS. She now looks like a druid while tradeskilling, but was able to get it to a decent amount (including her wisdom song).

I'll have to look it up, but I found a shield that has +9 WIS (secondary) for about 600PP on Kane Bayle, which will probably cost about 500 on other servers.
Great boosters, and I've also found many MANY +wis items, usualy less than a +4 for less than 100PP.. If you're broke , these might be a better route to go at the beginning.

                          I recommend against Velium Jewlery

2 Velium Jasper rings = 525 for 14 Wisdom, assuming No fails, which is iffy.

2 Platinum Jasper rings = 210 for 12 wisdom, assuming no fails, which is quite possible.

Velium Ruby Veil = 400p for 8 Wisdom (High Fails, I would assume)
Platinum Ruby Veil = 235 for 7 Wisdom (I *THINK* this has a lower triv, as well)

So for 500 plat saved , you lose 3 wisdom. Leaving you at 250 if you use everything else listed.

                          Just my 2 cents.

Well, since you have 50k to spend, lets hit some of the good ones

Emerald dragonscale tunic - 10k for 20 wis in chest slot
Earring of the solstice - about 6k for 8wis in one ear
                            Velium Jasper rings - 800 for 2 - 14 wis
velium ruby veil - 500 for 8 wis face
Shield of bane warding 15-20k for 20wis secondary
Lotus vine necklace about 3k for 8 wis or can do black alloy (5wis 500pp)
Golden efreeti boots 2-3k 9wis feet
                            grey flesh gloves 2k 6wis
bracelet of sense 10-15k 15 wis wrist
chipped bone or runed mithril bracers 5wis 200-500pp each
acrylia studded cloak 1k or less 10wis
brown chitin arms and legs 1-3k each 4wis each
Gatorscale legs (200-300) ulthork arms (50pp) 3 wis each
                            chitinous belt 500-750pp 5wis

A combination of selected ones of these should put you at 255, easily.

My cleric has a base wis of 95 (human) and is 255 wis unbuffed with most of this gear, and misty picnic/qeynos tea in his bags.

Throw in a KEi, and any race in the game can be at 255.

BTW, since you are a shaman, you should also look at the wyvern hide gear, and cobalt drake belt.

Spend some time looking in the bazaar, and you'll probably meet your goal at well under 50k

Velium has the same trivials as platinum, i.e., you have an equal chance of failing a platinum+ruby combine as a velium+ruby combine. Likewise, platinum+jasper has the same trivial as velium+jasper.

It just hurts more when you poof on velium.
