  • Use of a hotkey to combine?

Is there a way to put a line in a hotkey for tradeskilling that will click the "Combine" button?

The double clicking of combine and then auto-inventory because of that pause between the 2 drives me nuts. If a hotkey were possible for the combine, it would cut number of clicks in half when doing extremely large batches of tradeskill items (actually by 2/3 when you have a left over item like a smithing chisel).

    Hotkey would be something like:

    /combine (whatever might work here)
/pause 20 (can be adjusted if needed)
    /autoinventory
/pause 20 (for when a 2nd item needs to be dropped such as smithing chisel)
    /autoinventory (for the 2nd item)

Anyone come up with a way to do what I'm thinking of?

Kids these days have it so darn easy. Back when I was your age, we had to click and drag every item, uphill both ways in snow and barefoot!

Yes, I've done tradeskills the old way also, this is undoubtedly far fewer clicks than that. But I still value my wrists. If there's a way to avoid doing half or 2/3 the clicks when you're doing 10000 clicks in an afternoon for mass combines needed for the guild, yes, I'll try and find a better way.

Sorry if that offends anyone, my wrist doesn't care.

Hehe I think it was more gentle ribbing than an attack Mut, a multi-combine or macro like that would be a huge time saver I agree.

Us old timers just like to harken back to the "good old days" when things really were a pain.

Back before trophies, "mall cities", being able to buy stacks or pick up single items from a stack, the Nexus and PoK books, the bazaar, geerloks, EQTC.com, guildhalls.

I guess that makes us OLD FARTS (Occasionally Link Dead Fraternal Artisans & Recreational Trade Skillers) just reminiscing about "how it used to be".

Making a hotkey like that sounds very similar to the macros used by some in Galaxies to burn thru tedious combines for xp very quickly. Frankly, I didn't like it. I really wouldn't want to see EQ go that way and have our tradeskill efficiency/skill measured by how well you can write a script or macro.

However, I do still cringe at the thought of the time it takes doing a run of ethereal sheets or silks despite the profit margin for selling them. Rather than allowing macros, I could see a moderately difficult quest or a tinkered device made from rare drops allow us to do multiple combines of things like CE's, ethereal temper/curing agent, heady kiolas, oil of vitriol, etc with a single button click. Could even put in a refresh delay on the combine button so that a multi-combine would still take as long as a stack of normal combines, but at least there would be less wear and tear on mouse and wrist.

I realize there's 3rd party programs out there that will probably do everything from buying the components when you run out to final combines, but there's no way in the world I'd ever consider using those. I just want to save some wrist burnout strictly within game mechanics they give us.

And yes, it's the senseless combines of items like 500 CEs, among other trivial items. If they could say let us make stacks of trivial items that are needed in large quantities, that would alleviate a lot of unnecessary clicks. Let's say you need to be at least 100 or 150 over the trivial to have the ability to create a stack of the item at once. I don't think that change would be detrimental in anyway to tradeskills.

Ok, since no one else will say it...

                          NO.

There is no /command to make a combine. It cannot be "legally" hotkeyed.

                          {self edit: Giving legal advice about having children/spouses do combines for you without admission to the California bar is probably not wise. Suffice it to say "read the EULA, and if needed consult a lawyer."}

And what makes him think the "adults" playing the game could figure out the answer to the math problem??
