If you are thirsty you forage a pod of water
If you are hungry you forage roots
if you are hungry and thirsty, it gives the above according to if you are more hungry or more thirsty. (it is tracked)
This was added in years ago, at players request... frustrated that they would keep getting non edibles when they just wanted to get rid of the hungry/thirsty message.Ngreth Thergn

Tuft of Dire Wolf Fur drop rates
They seem poor again.
I was in Western Wastes where I normally forage and only got 2 somewhere between 30 minutes and an hour.
I have the first 3 forage AAs and the 1st one of the second set.
anyone think the other zones have better drop rates? At least in WW I can get eggs too.
It's not much fun playing the game when I have to waste so much time running around. At least I dont as many misty acorns

Yep, also I rember getting a few as drops off of a Dire Wolf in Great Divide. That was long ago when I was working on my faction. I can't confirm if they still drop today in GD zone from Dire Wolf.Fletcher 300 || Brewer 300 || Blacksmith 300 || Jeweler 300 || Tailor 300 || Baker 300 || Potter 300 || Tome Research 144

Tuft of dire wof fur drop rates
I was getting my forages in The Western Wastes, because I like the egg drops amongst other things. But it seemed like I might get one tuft or two every hour, A very poor rate.
I recently finally got my Foraging Machette which raised my forage skill from 200 to 220 and I noticed a big increase in my double forages, I have 4 forage AAs. I got at least 10 double forages in a row.
With that in mind I went over to Kael to forage my tufts just to se how Kael was and it was much better than WW. I dont have much in the way of numbers but I'd guess in an hour I foraged 10 tufts.

Best zones for tufts
I have found that Icewll Keep and Thurgadin are the best zones for direwolf tufts ... less competing forages. I'll sit and forage while working on my other computer.
I hadn't noticed any effect of the foraging machete on my 200 skill, 3 double-forage AA forager, but I'll try and collect stats on that next time I am foraging (if I can find my machete ,,, heh).Trophies: Fr-2 Jour-4 Exp-8 Mast-6 GM-29

I feel Kael has a better tuft ratio, with the bonus that tufts are the only non0edible forage in the zone, so if you run a parse on the log you can easily see when you forage tufts and create graphs and chartsDyllwin Dalewalker

Foraging machette doesn't do anything for someone with capped foraging skill (200).
