  • Skill Points?

Ok this may be a taboo issue but here goes.

When can you use your SKill Points on tradeskills at your GM?

Is there a level in a TS skill where you can not use skill points to skillup / etc.

I ask since I am going to have around 200 by level 70, already at over 100, and have nothing to spend them on except TS's and would like to spend them in the most efficient way possible.

Yes I did see: http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/show...t=SKill+Points but this is rather old and no idea if info is still current.

You can spend the skill points at your class guild master. You can only advance your tradeskills to 21 at the guild master via skill points; to skill up more, you will need to do it via non-trivial combines. This is definitely true for the basic tradeskills; I am not sure if it applies to tinkering, poisonmaking, research, or alchemy as well.

      Thanx Aeia.

I know Research you can only do to 20. That means the 7 basic TS's make it pointless to spend a single point in them then since you can get to 54 free in Abysmal and since I am an Iksar Necro the other 3 are forbidden.

Research I am at the 20 from GM and am still on the fence about since new content being released requires no research skill but rather questing to get your new spells.

Guess I will have to look at buying to max 1 of the 6 skills I have no need for and is at zero and grind out the TS's I want (no I not an addict to get them all maxed just the ones I want and can use for the character)

You can raise any tradeskill to 21 at a guild trainer, no more. There used to be a few tradeskills where you could train all the way to the max, but that has been removed.

There's no real reason to spend Practice Points that you don't have to. There's no penalty for hoarding the things, after all, and you never know when you might want a sudden infusion of skill in an area you'd neglected due to lack of reason to get anything there.

It sure sucks I can't use points to raise tradeskill now as I have a few points rotting. Otherwise I would have raised my fletching till condensed ice/flame/shadow becomes trival and then burn the leftover points to get fletching to 300 bypassing the big hurdle.

You might be able to use practice points to max out fishing. Fishing does have some tradeskill type combines.

But for the most part, it's kinda pointless to use practice points on tradeskills since you can just do the abysmal sea quests for free to get skills to 54. Then save those practice points for something useful, like some of those exotic languages.

Languages are much easier to skill up than tradeskills .

Yes if you have 2 accounts you can put 2 toons together in a spam session. Theorically you can max out all languages in a day.

Also, because of the skill up formula, the first 21 points should take about 25 maybe 30 combines tops to get, if you do something thats not too difficult, its pretty much a skillup per success till around 20 I think.

Research used to be purchaseable, that's how I got my enchanter to 200, it's been since nerfed I believe.

                        research = nerfed

You would be correct, double nerf actually... you can no longer spend skill points on research, and a bunch of old chars that never spent any skill or did anything with research got a bonus in the mail of a magic 256 something skill.... yay them.
