Bug with GoD component refining

The first time you ever refine a raw GoD component in a tradeskill container you're supposed to receive 1 refined item in return. Later attempts should yield 2, then 3. Right?

Lately I've been getting 2 refined items back on the very first attempt, then only 1 on subsequent refines. I started noticing this before PoR and it's still true.

Are you sure you're not getting 2 then 1 on the same combine? When you start getting 2 at a time, and keep refining some more on your own you'll start getting random chance of 3 for a while (2+1)

I always assumed the progression in self refining was so that in the beginning you had chances of 1 or 2, then later on chances on 2 or 3 and finnaly at the end on 3 only...
Maybe I assumed wrong but I never noticed any thing to disprove this when refining myself

It starts out as 1 or 2 there isn't a 1 only phase. After 4-5 stacks it changes to 2 every time. Another 3 stacks or so and it becomes 2 or 3. And finally after about 20 stacks it becomes 3 every time.

I've had returns of 1, 1+1, 2, 2+1, and 3...

and at any point where I'm at a +1 stage, I can still just get the base numer, 1 or 2, until I hit the next stage whole number.. 2 or 3

That's correct, but while you list 5 stages, there are really only 4. You start out in the 1+1 stage. It's just that the chance for the +1 is low in the beginning, so you don't usually see it right away.
