  • Poison Trophy Question

I did the quest to get the GM Assassin Seal, which consists of combining various poisons & the GM Assassin Vial (original trophy).

The problem comes in when on the PoR Trophy tasks, it asks for the GM Assassin Vial. I tried to hand in the Seal instead, but was given the standard "no need for this item".

We are supposed to be able to use any previous trophies we earned for the new trophies. We shouldn't have to do the vial all over again, yet I'm at a loss right now on what to try. Poisons may be the only tradeskill that has the original trophy used to make a different item, and therefore maybe no one realised that many wouldnt have the Vial any longer.

Ideas or any thoughts on what I could do or if this was just an oversight and will be corrected?

It was not an oversight. There has been discussion on the SoE boards as well as the Safehouse on this topic.

To summarize, devs did not want to require rogues to lose their ability to summon coffin bottles so they are not requiring the seal. There had to be a requirement to hand in SOME trophy, so the vial was chosen.

And yes, I was interested because I have a master poisonmaker rogue alt.

I understand & I wouldn't want to lose the seal either. Though they could have just refunded the original Vial/trophy used for the quest, since I'm 99% sure they never envisioned these new trophies or that we would ever need the old GM Vial again.

I can see that would require revamping the Seal quest to return the Vial as well as the Seal, although thats not a huge stretch ~ there are other quests that return items along with the final result. It seems the Vial was mainly just proof of skill to get the Seal & once you make the perm bag there wasn't any real use for the Vial anymore. I would guess that is why people didn't care about losing it in the combine.

So essentially those of us with GM Seals have to do the original poison trophy over again and those without the Seal will have to make 2 trophies if they want the Seal and PoR trophy, that seems a bit excessive. hmm ok np wont be getting new poison trophy. Rather spend the plat trying other trophies lol.

      Thanks for the help Nihlia!

Artisan seal is easy to make and costs around 5k. A drop in the bucket for a real tradeskiller.

So you do not mind providing each of your fellow poisonmakers 5k? Since it is a 'drop in the bucket?'

I can't speak for anybody else, but the very first thing I did after getting my GMAS a year or two ago was to create another GMAV to replace the one turned in while doing the quest for the GMAS. In fact I'd already assembled all the materials for the final combine before I did my final GMAS turn-ins.

The reason I did this was that I like having a lot of bag space and one way to achieve maximum bag space is to have seven 10-slot bags (mostly tinkerers bags and haversacks) and one "disposable" bag I can destroy when I need to make room for a combine container for a tradeskill or quest, but that I can recover at no cost after I've finished using the combine container.

Having both the GMAV and the GMAS as well as a collapsed mortar and pestle gave me the ability to maximize my bag space during normal hunting and such while also giving me the ability to perform make poison combines when I needed to. Normally I wouild have the "permanent" Grandmaster's Carry-All in my 8th bag slot, but when I needed to perform a poison combine I could simply empty that bag, destroy it, summon a mortar and pestle to do the combine(s), then destroy that, summon and use a "coffin bottle" with the GMAS if needed for a 5 or 10-shot combine, and then finally summon a new GM bag and turn it in to the gnome in the Bazaar to make it into a permanent bag to replace the one I'd just destroyed.

It may sound a bit clumsy, but actually it worked quite well for me.
