Originally posted by WympAn interesting concept, for sure.
Although it is highly skewed on the side of the trades with more "easy-to-make" recipes over 300 (baking, brewing, karana/woodie items)
What about the others like Tinkering and Research that have fewer options over 300? Are there more new recipes for all trades that help compensate?
And, yes, I saw that it will take quite a bit more of the storebought combines; but even then, it's going to be much, much easier to accomplish for them than for those that never did and still don't have that option.
And what about the changes to DoN cultural drops (teeth, silks, hides, etc.) .. were those made or coming later? Did the recipes get changed to where we will need to use up our current supplies of things like yttrium or shissar scales before the patch?
edit - Oh .. and it sounds to me like it will end up being better to just wait until you hit an evolution step before even bothering to get the new trophy from what I'm hearing. Seems like less of a hassle to wait, say at 280, until you hit 300 before even getting the trophy, so it starts at level 6 rather than trying to evolve the thing after you already hit 300. I don't about the rest of you, but I rarely find myself sitting around making high-level combines unless someone needs that item made. I seriously doubt there'll be a market for all the stuff people will be having to make to skill-up their trophies. Sure, things like picnics and kaladim constitutionals will continue to sell, but what about the stuff you'll have to be making with the other trades?
I believe the total number of combines to hit "trophy 350" (when the trophy maxes at lvl 7) is adjusted differently per tradeskill. Like say (making up numbers) baking is 1000, tailoring is 500. I think I read this, but don't take it for law.

Is there any kinda bonus other then 15% mod on these items? aka summoned bag etc like old trophies. I know 15% mod sounds good and all but really at this point in the game if you are 300 then 15% will do next to nothing in helping you on combines. I know there was post that said they plan on making higher level trivals but so far those are few and far between so what good is a 15% mod? I would prefer something like a set 3% reduce failure rate on any combine or something.

They summon a bag I believe, but I think its just the same one from the old trophies.
I'm suprised no one else has mentioned this, but why in the world are high end tradeskillers being punished for doing harder combines? Ngreth said in this thread that any combine over 350 is being truncated to 350 for purposes of the amount of exp gained on the trophy, so basically it punishes you for, say, doing radiant cuts of OoW augs versus brilliant cuts. The difference between, say, a 335 trivial and 386 trivial, only amounts to a 15% advantage on speed of exp gained, so its not game breaking but certainly an advantage that should be deserved for doing a harder combine.
Is there a reason for this? Other than to prevent people doing OoW augs and DoN cultural from getting to level 7 faster?

I think is because trophies only gain experience when you do combines that trivial between 1 and 100 points above your current skill. Items with trivials above 350 are considered to be trivial at 350 for the purposes of this check. Since with the mastery aa's you hit max success on success capped DoN armor at 250 skill, you aren't punished for attemping these combines while the trivials are still over 100 points over your skill.Last edited by Bobaten; 02-18-2006, 08:22 PM.

Ooh, there is something in the bags? You mean like tools? OK, tools are probably too much to hope for, since you would either be giving us an infinite platinum exploit or have to make duplicate recipes for every recipe that uses tools. But I can hope, right?

Will the new trophies have graphics when equipped? or will we see the bag/knife thing as we do with the current ones?Centuri, 70 Paladin ~Sword of Fate~ Prexus

Fun question: If you equip both a geerlok and a low-level trophy (less than 5% skill mod), does your trophy get experience for combines, even though you get the 5% skill mod from the trophy? If so, that makes for a "best of both worlds" situation.Sir KyrosKrane Sylvanblade

(so geerlok may have you at 105, but trophy considers you at 100 for calculating eligible exp. I.E. 205 trivial items are out of range for exp... etc...)
And my statement about the bags... "in" may be the incorrect word. There is a surprise "about" the bags... (some of the beta players know this, because they helped me confirm it worked correctly). It is not a HUGE deal either, but something I figure you will like at least a little bit. Nothing huge like "20 slots" or "has all the tools in it" (thought that might not be a bad idea for the level 7 trophy.... hrm... ponder ponder ponder.... would not be "all" tools, but a selection of tools (max 10 anyway!) **no promises** it would have to pass Maddoc muster)
I gotta leave some surprises for you!.Ngreth Thergn

Since the NDA is lifted... It was mentioned many times that the coarse spider silk and other DoN GM cultural drops would be increased or part of other drop tables after PoR releases... So my question is, is that included in the PoR release or if it meant a few patches/months after the PoR release... I mean, coarse spider silk drops have only been lacking for a year now...Fonceur L'encaisseur

I'm trying to figure out a reason for these. At 260 smithing with 5% and AA, I'm already max success on anything really worth making.
