  • multiple GrandMasters - tell me about this please

Ok I have my GrandMaster Trinket for Jewlry. My skill is at 250 unmodified.

I have started bringing my smithing skill up. A friend that use to play, said that I can't have more than one skill about 200. But I see people on this and other boards with more than one kind of GM Trinket. How does that work?

    Thanks

You have to buy the New Tannen AA (can't remember the exact named) it is under the General AA tabs near the bottom. This will allow you to bring 1 additional tradeskill over 200 for each rank, there are 6 ranks (for the 6 other tradeskills). I think there is a FAQ thread that is easily accessable that answer this question and other questions you may have.

EDIT: On the mainpage of EQTraders is an FAQ link: http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/ar...r=030000000000

Here is the FAQ answer to your question: http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/ar...r=030000000000

    Good luck.

      Ok, the world has changed.

You are allowed to have more than one skill over 200.

Note I said, allowed to, but you MAY not have two... until...

Open up your AA point window (default key is v)

In the general tab down toward the bottom is New Tannan Craft Mastery.

It costs 3 points per level and you can have up to 6 levels.

Your first skill over 200 is free. After that each one (of the basic 7) will cost you 3 aa points to take to 201 and beyond.

I have brewing 248 and a trophy, and a baking skill of 200. To get more baking skill I have to spend 3 aa points and then I can get 201.

You can, presuming you have an infinite amount of plat and source of artisan seals / other items, get multiple GM trophies at a skill of practically ZERO. (It's not a skill restricted combine, but trying for a fletching trophy with my skill of 160 is not a good idea.) So given the 5% minimum success rate you should be able to get all 7 trophies with 21 skill in each for 140 attempts. The costs of doing so, let alone the wisdom of trying, is incalculable.

Basic skills: Baking, Brewing, Tailoring, Smithing, Fletching, Pottery, Jewelcraft

Non-basic skills (for which there are also trophies): Alchemy, Poison-Making, Tinkering (note: you must be shaman / rogue / gnome for these respectively)

Non-basic skills (for which there are NOT trophies, but still considered tradeskills): Fishing, Spell-Research (note: must be an INT Caster class for research)

Then you get additional stuff like craft masteries (all but Jewelcraft available to most, please don't comment about it, no one cares) and salvage.

Getting 2100 club (all basics mastered) and the masteries and salvaged maxxed and blah blah blah...

Tradeskills is a life. I'm not even actively trying for 2100 club etc and I'm here reading the boards once or twice a day. And have for a number of years. And I don't know even perhaps 20% of the available info. Consider this a friendly warning. Once you open the "how many skills can I have how high and what can I do with them" box you will envy Pandora.
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

You don't need 250 skill to make a grandmaster trophy, and 250 doesn't even guarantee you will succeed since they are trivial well over 300.

I'm confused a little about the changes over the past year or so, and I don't feel like I clearly got the answer reading the faq above. I can raise 1 skill past 200, then to raise more than that past 200 I need the New Tanaan AA... But now I can raise to 300? Is there a condition that needs to be met (level?) to go past 250?

You can raise any one skill past 200 all the way to 300, without having to buy any AAs.

After that, once you buy the New Tanaan Crafting Mastery AA, you can raise additional skills past 200 all the way to 300.

              thanks for the great answers

Now that I know what to do, it has become a matter of patences for me as I can't get AA's get. Still I love the thrill of making a muplitible discipline piece like a Gemmed bastard sword.

              Thanks again all.

You now have 50 more skill-ups to go then. 300 is the cap these days.
