Each day in the world of Norrath, on the moon of Luclin, and in the many Planes, more treasures are discovered. With such an abundance of loot, eight bank slots just doesn't cut it anymore. So, we're giving everyone who purchases EverQuest: The Legacy of Ykesha eight additional bank slots, per character, to store their treasures. That's right, a total of 16 bank slots for your character!
Just think how much easier it will now be to store those extra trade skill ingredients, build that guild arsenal, or have enough room for 3200 bone chips. (That's 16, 10 slot bags containing stacks of 20 bone chips!)

            HQ Ore

Is anyone but me worried about what this will do to HQ ore supplies?

Already I have problems finding HQ ore sometimes. I'll go from the Bazaar to Qeynos to Kaladim and find no Large Bricks of HQ ore. That means (a) buying lots of small bricks and slapping them together - if that supply hasn't dried up as well; or (b) doing the annoying time-sink vendor quest to refresh the supplies.

Rather than choose one of those options, usually I'll give up and wait for a patch or zone reset.

Now that you can fill 80 more slots, I'm a tad worried that people will log in on patch day, find a vendor, and drain them very quickly of HQ ore. Store 'em in the bank and find a chanter at your convenience to enchant them.

Yes, I know you have to really try hard to find a dark cloud in the silver lining of extra bank space. I'm truly hoping SOE eventually lifts this vendor limit - doesn't seem to serve much of a purpose other than to be another highly annoying part of trying to craft items.

I'm really quite surprised that the limited HQ ore supplies thing is still in effect considering what else you can buy in droves from other vendors. (So you're telling me that HQ ore is hard to come by and yet you've got enough leather armor to outfit an entire legion?)
I sure hope this goes poof soon.. though I have little doubt that it's very low on their priorities, even though getting through ornate armor is more difficult due to this that getting to 250 due to the Hollowshade insaine drop rates for shaddowscream.

Back on the topic of the slots...

BAH.... If you can't be bothered to run the restock quest, combine the 4 blocks in the quest container, and then carry the resulting NON-Container around, using one slot.....

                Then I have no sympathy.

At the very worst, have a character bound by the banker in HHK, and check the vendors there. They ALWAYS have unrefined ore, sold to them by overloaded players.

                    Apparently not.

Don't sweat it - I'm kinda surprised that you've got this problem though - the Neriak, bazaar and SH HQ ore guys are always stocked on my server.

But as was pointed out, just use your extra bank space to hold a boat load of the quest ore and then use it to fill up your own bank.

There is actually a fairly serious downside the people tend to overlook. You've touched on one aspect of this. The key worry I have is the "pack rat mentality."

I am a pack rat. I NEVER throw anything away until I am absolutely, positively, 110% sure that I'll never need it again, AND I haven't used it in the last five years or so. This has come across in how I play EQ, too.

In EQ, the limit of eight inventory and eight bank slots acted as a restraint on my behavior. I simply couldn't hoard all my now-obsolete weapons and armor from level 1 onwards -- I literally had no room. Thus, I was forced to pass some of the items on to newer players, and I eventually set up another account for a full-time bazaar trader.

On the one hand, I really do appreciate the extra space. It will make my life a lot easier. Heck, I have three backpacks filled purely with quest items, and another backpack and a half with WIS items for my skill-up runs. That leaves me less than half my normal bank space for tradeskill supplies and implements, not to mention extra sets of weapons and armor for situational needs.

On the other hand, I remember how greatly I benefited as a newbie paladin when, around level 10, a player randomly walked up to me and said, "Here, I no longer have room for this bow and these arrows." Turns out that it was a fairly high-end fletched bow and arrows, and some thirty levels later, I'm still using that bow. At other points, players also passed on their spare weapons to me, and my skills improved tremendously. I'm now doing the same thing, by passing on my weapons to those who need them. (The 20-30pp I can get for them in the Bazaar is no longer really worth my time.)

Having extra bank space will really hurt the beneficiaries of pass-down gear. It means more players will hoard their once-uber-now-crap items, when in fact those items are still uber to non-twinked newer players. It means that I'll now have more than a full backpack of bone chips, simply because I may need them for more faction quests, some day in some unforeseen future. It means that ultimately, more players will become pack-rats, simply because they have the room and feel it "should be" filled with something -- anything.

If the two aspects are balanced, then the bank space will be the greatest of boons to weary tradeskillers. For what it's worth, I plunked down my $19 the moment I read the words "extra bank space." I just hope that hoarding doesn't get out of hand, for me or for others.

People that pass on stuff will still pass stuff on. I do not save anything I consider obsolete for my chars. I pass it on or sell it. Newbies will survive without hand-me-downs. They did before they will still.

                                The graphic is interesting

From the appearance of the graphic, it would appear that the owners of the expansion are assigned a second set of eight slots. I would assume this means the bank slots were not totally recoded but patched instead. This could explain why the bank slots were not increased to 20 since it would have to be done in multiple of 8. Just idle speculation on my part. It may be a few weeks before I totally trust these new slots not to lose pieces of my epic or anything else for that matter.
