  • Equipping for skillup

Boy... I leave the game for a year or so and everything is different!!!

On one hand, I could always search the bazaar, but I've kinda done that and spent most of what I had allocated to get HP gear for a new gnome rogue so I could level him to 16. My intention is to use him for tradeskills, and now I want to get his INT up... (I had a tradeskill mule on another account, but 1) I don't want to pay for so many accounts and 2) my wife has switched servers for my main, and I wouldn't want to spend more on server transfers either)

So... anyway, wanting to plot out my evenings of solo hunting with my main to get easily aqcuired by someone deficient in liquid assets int gear.. I tryed searching the usual places I used to look for equipment (everquest.allakhazam.com) but it's a hopelessly long list of page after page of augments...

Where can I do the kind of searches I want to do, or is there any decent guides/lists that cover easy/cheap tradeskilling equipment listings?

not sure about sites to do searches, but i'm going to bet you will have a slightly easier time upping wisdom rather than int. being a chain class, there aren't any chain wearers that use int for thier casting. shamans and rangers use wis, and since they have gone more to breaking down items by plate/chain/leather/silk exclusively your going to find wis on almost all chain items.

not sure if this is a big help but, something to think about.

Hmm.. yeah, I guess that might've occurred to me if I had thought about it, but I didn't. When I made the guy, I saw that starting INT was higher than WIS, so I put as many points as I could into upping INT as I could, then put the rest into STA.

Be aware that the trend is really to the point where you have to TS using your mains. The leading edge of that trend being just about all of the high end items are culturally specific in their creation. For example my main is a Iksar Bst. If I want to wear the best crafted armor (DoN) it has to be made by an Iksar tailor and is only wearable by Iksar monks or fellow beastlords. Same thing is true with smithing and plate/chain wearers. Granted I have only really looked at tailoring so jewelry craft, pottery, etc are/might be a different story. This all may or may not apply depending on which TS you plan on using your rogue for.

It's more of a fun thing, to get him as far in all the tradeskills that I can. For my return, I've pretty firmly decided that I won't do any raiding, and grouping will be uncommon. That being the case, my 66 monk doesn't have too much advancement opportunity, at least none as fun as a tradeskills alt.. And I guess I could've used my main, but that'd exclude the fun of poisonmaking and tinkering

But thanks for the heads up.. Just another way that it's a completely different game any more I guess!!!

I dont mean to knock what you have chosen to do, (its your game experience) but wouldnt a solo class be better?

I then read that you wanted to do tinkering and poisonmaking so i guess you need gnome rogue.

Anyway, good luck with the tradeskilling, I look forward to reading about your progress!

Well, my main is a 66 Iksar Monk. (Monk at least used to be a soloing class, but that's a whole other discussion!) When I quit, I think it was before whatever the expansion was that came after LDoN. At the time I was raiding heavily with a guild that was up to Xegony in the elemental planes, and for what we were raiding at the time, elemental god drops would've been my only chance to upgrade (or plane of water drops)

My wife plays a 70 bard, and she stayed at it longer, plus she's raiding evenings now. We've spent some time finishing up some of the quests I had left unfinished, namely the gate necklace.. We're working (occasionally) on the last drop from plane of water to get my third gate necklace.

My main is already over 200 in brewing, and (correct me if something has changed about tradeskill limits since I stopped playing a year + ago) I have NO interest in grinding through the AA's to be able to get additional tradeskills past 200. With the new twink, frankly I don't anticipate having to face that issue for a long time yet.. And the XP'ing at the lower levels is just more fun.
