  • Wood Elf for the Win!

So...from the 2100 list posted down below:

    2 Unknown
    1 Dark Elf
    1 Half Elf
    2 Erudites
    2 High Elves
    3 Humans
    4 Halflings

    and

    25 Wood Elves

I know how this result got skewed this way. It is arguably easier to reroll as a wood elf and start from 0 than to do 250 to 300 tailoring and fletching as any other race.

What I am not sure of is this conjecture: Most of the skew is due to the erroneous data pushed live that made tailoring uncompletable for people without racial advantage.

I might be wrong, but the data doesn't lie.

Probably the best way to confirm this is to do a similar survey and see if the distribution amongst brewers, potters, bakers, jewelers, and smiths is evenly divided across the races and only the fletchers and tailors are skewed towards woodies.

That would be interesting information. If you put it together, let me know and I'll add it to the top 10.

Speaking of the top 10, there won't be an update this time around for a couple reasons. First, we didn't seem to come to a consensus on a new issue to add. Second, I've been travelling for work most of the last 2 weeks; what little time I've had, was either spent trying to beta, or with my kids. Once the expansion comes out, we can take a look at the list, and see if we want to change things around.

10 bucks says the 3 humans and 4 halflings are Karana worshippers.

Tailoring at least is feasible (othmir and holgresh)... its fletching that's skewing the 2100 crowd.

Definitely agree with that, and as one of the 2100 I know I only reached that due to being one of Karana's faithful. If I had to go through what others have to endure in fletching I would have crumbled long ago. Once we see equity in fletching I expect the 2100 ranks will swell quite a bit.

As far as tailoring, there are so many pathways that are at least accessible, from Othmir and the other Velious Furs, to Elemental, which may not be super plentiful but is at least accessible in the Bazaar, to Master and GM DoN items.

Dwarf here and I've been 300 in everything but tailoring/fletching for close to 6 months I think (not sure on dates). Those are the tricksy ones though, tricksy and false

                    This halfling is Karana.

But hey, we are screwed on cultural tailoring and I did my 250-300 tailoring after the tailoring "adjustment".

and this Halfling is also a Karana follower.

Altho its just luck, i didnt know anything about tradeskills when i created Pootle, (my first character rolled).

As the token dark elf on this list, I can verify that it was fletching that almost drove me around the bend before I finished it. I didn't think any tradeskill would be worse to master than tailoring was, but I was wrong

As the first non-woodelf, non-Karana to make the club, I still shudder at the horror that was 299 --> 300 fletching. It took me 243 GM fletching trophies + 30 or so assorted planar bows and OoW arrows. Quite probably the most expensive skill-up ever gained in EQ history (around 1.25 million plat) for 1pt.

                            Ok I feel better now

As to tailoring - My character is ERU, and it was my first skill to 250 and first to 300 - imo Woodelves don't have it easy here because they can't make any LoY robes.

Old school cultural (tunarean scout/soldier) + DoN Master's armor should form the bulk of training for wood elves past 220.

Actually, I believe I topped you there. 281 trophy combines plus (estimating) 50 non-trophy combines to go from 297 to 298 in fletching.
