  • PoR tradeskill items?

According to Lucy, there are a bunch of items appearing that all have tradeskill flags.

Seems Jewelcraft and Alchemy (possibly Baking) are getting more recipes.

These items were presumably from the beta for Prophecy of Ro and have been removed from Lucy. Nothing to see here, move along!

The items were not removed from Lucy.

Nothing to stress over though the expantion isnt far off.

Yes, they reappeared since they showed on the PoK beta vendors that mistakenly appeared on Live. Anyway, they'll get updated along with the final stats with everything else when PoR goes live.

Since NDA hasn't been lifted, I can't say too much about what I do know is coming. However, I can say that there will definitely be something implemented that tradeskillers will be happy about.

I've got a question related to this, particularly in regard to people who are in beta. When a new expansion is released and new recipes appear, obviously the people in beta already know what those recipes are and what the components are. For the most part, I don't have a problem with that - I know there is no way around it and that that information generally becomes available very quickly.

Also, presumably, most of the major components for the new stuff will be drops in the new expansion. However, some of the components are not - they are components that have existed in the game for a long time, but either never had a particular use, or had only a limited use. e.g. Crushed Diamond Dust.

So, people in beta already know what existing components it might be a good idea to stock up on, in anticipation of either using them, or making a hefty profit by selling them when the new expansion is released.

So, while I'm sure that the vast majority of people in beta are probably similar to CIA operatives in terms of their ability to keep a secret, I wonder if there might not be one or two who would tell a guildie that they might want be saving (and even buying) all the Smashed Carnelians of Uselessness that they happen to encounter in the next few weeks.

Omitting the sarcasm, it concerns me that there may be a lot of 'connected' people who know enough right now to turn themselves a tidy profit on the release of PoR. This probably wouldn't bother me so much if I was one of those people, but I'm never going to be.

Some of you surely know - does this happen? Will it happen again with PoR? Is there anything to be done about it?

ah semi bug. I thought this might happen, but I also did not really care much So I left them and did not worry about them. Even if you slam through guessing what recipies can come from these, please don't post them until PoR is released... then you can try and be first

While I am sure it *Can* happen... and I can see a few cases where people might do that for this expansion... for the most cases, and most things in this expansion, it is NEW drops... so the biggest leg up they will have is know what mobs to go for to get certain drops right away.

The issue is... we *MUST* have testers... the player base actually demands that. The player base continually demands that we do *MORE* testing than is even possible with a reasonable duration beta. The side effect is that the testers get some advanced knowledge of what is coming down the pike.

I am *Not* saying that I approve of hoarding, and abusing pre-knowledge for monetary gain... but you *can* also consider it possibly a deserved perk for the players stopping their real game advancement in order to come help us test. (Beta characters are deleted after every beta) Again... I am *not* advocating it, just stating a possible other view.

If you really don't want them to profit, don't buy from them

Ngreth, thank you for taking the time to reply. While I see that some of my concerns may be mildly justified, I actually feel ok about this after reading what you had to say.

Sometimes I think that the simple act of communication can work wonders, even if what is communicated is not exactly what you were hoping to hear.

And.. I will freely confess that what I really want, deep down inside, is to be one of those people who knows, so that I can profit from my knowledge. I guess I would not be a good candidate for beta testing.

                      Thanks again.

On that note, I'm going to close this thread to discourage the any subtle hinting from those in the know. There's nowhere else productive that this thread could really lead.
