I have been playing EQ for just about a year, and there are many things I am still learning. One thing I recently learned the hard way is once you get one Tradeskill up to or over 200 (I got Jewelcrafting to 212), you cannot get other Tradeskills over 200 until you make lvl 51 and purchase 3 AA's in Tanaan Crafting. I made about 100 pieces of Dark Elf Dreadguard cultural armor and didn't get one skill-up (my Smithing skill was 200). I was told of people who have done hundreds of combines in some skills and only get a few skill-ups, so I thought my experience was the same kind of thing. Only later did a guild member tell me why. It never dawned on me to ask about skilling up over 200 with other skills. I just assumed you could do it. There was no reason I could see to think otherwise. I read the Intro to Tradeskills and Smithing here and I do not recall seeing anything about that limitation. Perhaps I missed it. Perhaps in the Introduction to Tradeskills on this website, this information could be posted so the same thing doesn't happen to someone else ? This website has been invaluable to me. Keep up the good work !

There is a General Tradeskill FAQ that contains this information, and more.
Q: What are the skill maximums (or 'caps') for tradeskills?
A: All tradeskills may be raised to the skill level of 200. You may have one of your tradeskills raised to the skill level of 300. There are exceptions for race-specific and class-specific tradeskills.
After level 51, you may buy the Alternate Advancment ability New Tanaan Crafting Mastery to raise additional tradeskills to the level of 300.
