Nitpick: I'm supposed to tell that Minim is female? And since when does a person's toon gender mean anything about their real life preference?

But anyway, other stack sizes have recently changed (eg. increased to 100) so no, not all stacks are the same size any more. I think it's great that blocks stack at all, and it only takes a second to realize you can only fit 5 in a stack.

I certainly don't think this is "one of the more annoying changes." I think this is one of the better changes!

You assume everyone that visits this site is male, then. Good for you.
I would address you as male due to your posting name, which is masculine.
My posting name is female, as are all of my character names, with the possible exception of Minim, which could be gender neutral.

I still think it's annoying that blocks only stack to 5.

Have you seen how much these blocks weigh?! Just from a roleplay perspective (and I still cling to these things) it seems eminently reasonable that there must be a lower limit to how much a stack of truly huge blocks can be stackable. Otherwise you are going to be carrying stacks that weigh serveral tons, and until they put pickup trucks in the game, that just doesn't feel right.

Well, I understand your frustration Ilona, however I look at it this way. Blocks now stack, they didn't before. Though they only stack to five, overall, you are getting far more per block than you use to in the past. The breakdown use to be:
          1 Block > 1 Large Brick > 1 Small Brick > 2 Small pieces

          Now it is:
          1 Huge Block > 2 Large Bricks > 4 Small Bricks > 8 Small Pieces

Now, lets say the blocks stacked to 20 and huge blocks stack to five. In both cases, you end up with 40 Small Pieces of Ore per stack of Blocks.

There was no loss, only gain. Before hand, one huge block only represented 2 Small Velium Pieces, now one stack it is 8. That's a huge bonus to tradeskillers if you ask me.

I wonder where all that extra velium goes then, when I hammer it flat to a sheet. They weren't that heavy before, and I don't think the weight of the sheet has changed.
Or did all high elves sudden morph from small characters to large characters?

Wyvernwill, I see your point. However, one block still only gives one sheet, and sheets can still stack to 20.

Not everyone breaks the blocks down.

              *Sigh*

              a) Who really cares about gender? I make no presumption of gender even when the toon/poster icon is decidedly female. I personally only have one cross-gender toon, and I made that one to fool my (then fiance) Wife into thinking I was someone she didn't know. My wife has zero cross-gender toons. But I'm well aware that 90% of the players are male while nearly half the toons aren't.

It's convention to refer to people as masculine when gender is in doubt. A simple correction suffices. We all now know that Ilona is female. (woot!!)

              b) If you try to apply LOGIC to EQ you will get a headache. Don't. It's not supposed to be logical. It won't ever be logical. Leave it alone. Stop picking at it or it will never heal.

              c) Yeah it's silly that large only stack to 10 and blocks (huge or otherwise) only stack to 5. It's silly. Admit it.

              d) It's _STILL_ the best thing since buying/selling stacks at a time.

To quote from the movie "The Firm" (the book is greatly different)

"What do you CARE? It's the best interest-free loan you're EVER gonna get."

"So what you're saying is the worst thing is I pay my taxes much much later?"

"No! The worst thing is you don't take this, they change the law next year and you feel like you've been.....(family-friendly site, self-edit)"

"You know that for a fact?"

HooRAY!!! Stackable blocks of Velium. Take the stack of 5 and run. Anybody who doesn't have their bank full of Deluxe ToolBoxes isn't paying attention. Anybody who doesn't have at least their Brewing Tradeskill trophy and an infinite supply of 100% WR 10-slot Giant bags needs to go check out (use search) theads started by Itek in brewing. (248 skill in a couple hours for under a thousand plat.) I think Ngreth said he pushed the change.

              *Hugs Ngreth*

Sure 20 would be better. 5's good. Let's keep 5 until they switch it to 20.

              I thought it was a bug. I was mistaken. It's not a bug. It's a feature.
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

Wyvernwill, I see your point. However, one block still only gives one sheet, and sheets can still stack to 20.

In a way, it's a flavor thing. Bigger the block, the less you can fit in a slot.

To a more rationalized point... before, your sheets stacked and the blocks did not. If you have 3 empty 10 slots, that meant you could only carry 30 Blocks of Velium before you had to return to a forge. Now, you can carry 150 in the same situation.

It's a bonus none the less. Allowing to stack to 20 would have been great, but in a way, it looks like it came down to the bigger the block, the less they stacked. Flavor maybe?

                      He's talking bazaar prices.

Acrylia isn't sold in stores, so there's no "profit cycle" in buying blocks and converting.

                      Ditto Velium.

.... If you want to add Acrylia/Velium vendors... you'd make a lot of smiths very happy.

(Hey, can't blame a guy for trying, right?)

Not only smiths, but tailors too.

People will sell a small piece of velium for 40plat and the same person would have a small brick of velium for 45 plat, but you can break the small bricks down to 2 or 3 small pieces, so you get a good value that way (conversions are probably not accurate, but I'm too lazy to look them up.)
