  • Salvaged items now show recovery in group.

    Hurray!

Had 2 toons logged in and grouped this evening when my researcher salvaged a parchment. The red failure message not only indicated that she was "unsuccessful", but also stated, "has managed to recover Grimy Fine Vellum Parchment" on my other grouped toon.

    Very nice!

Sorry if this is not new, but it was new to me and thought others would love to know.

Now we can see if someone salvages an item when they are doing a combine for you. Great addition!

Now they just need a filter so group members can turn the tradespam off.

The salvage message was added a few patches ago.

As of two days ago (after the big December patch but before the re-patch), the salvage message was NOT appearing for group members.

I would presume that whatever the problem was, it got fixed with the re-patch.

Let's add this to the top 10, so then we can mark it as completed and remove it.

Sadly, the problem was not fixed. I was grouped with a person doing tradeskill combines, and even though he got a salvage, I did not see a message. =/

I'm mixed on this and can see both sides. When I am on a raid making a hundred potions for the raid I feel sorry for my groupmates and think filtering out the tradeskill spam would be good. On the other hand I remember the way things where before this was implimented. The accusations when ever someone failed a combine over them not doing the combine and just keeping the components etc. Being able to turn off tradeskills combines really limits that functionality.

Obviously only the receiver should be able to filter them out. There should be no way for the combiner to filter his messages... thus there would be no problems.

The combiner already knows what happens and doesn't need this info. It's the other person your doing the combine for that the msg is useful for. Basically as a tradeskiller you group them and it's your proof that you did the combine for them and what the result is.

Yes I meant that the combiner should not be able to filter the message so that others can't see it.

You should, however, be able to filter off the receiving of combine messages.

That gives you the best of both worlds... when you want to see the messages because someone is doing a combine for you, you can. Likewise when you are in a raid and somebody is making potions/arrows/whatever, you can turn off the spam.

OHH how I wish this was a filter now. I am one of 2 #300 fletchers in my guild.. When going on raids I usually have some supplies on me because while I don't use arrows, sooo many others do, I can sit and make arrows for them while others are buffing etc. However the spam I end up giving others has made it where I ask to be groupless until we are ready to go.

Thats my point if the other person can filter it out you no longer have "Proof" you did the combine and got x result. It's back to just being your word on what happened.

It would be their responsibility to remember to turn their filter off. If they don't, well, they're SOL.

The operative word is "can" filter it out... not "must" filter it out. Give each user the power to filter or not filter at will (it only takes a few clicks in the options window to turn a filter on or off)... along with that power must come the responsibility to turn it off when its needed.

                            Let the buyer beware.

I was doing my normal research skill up routine last night in abysmal when I ran out of inks. I bought a few extra stacks of water and headed over to Corathus Creep to finish my run. I failed my second attempt, and got a salvage. Now, all night my salvages in abysmal had been filtered to my skill window, and matched my chat color for skills. But in CC, salvage was not filtered to skills window, and was colored yellow (the way it used to be). I suspect that had I been grouped, groupmates wouldn't have seen that salvage. So I suspect the problem is salvage is working differently in some zones than others.
