Hmm... does Black Gold Inlay have a success cap or was my 3 for 8 run with 345 just incredibly bad luck =P.

Actually, I would say that you have been incredibly lucky with the RNG before that... On the same 60 black gold inlay at a 345 skill with all AAs, my failure rate is consistant with a minimum 40% failure rate not affected by AA's...Originally posted by WyvernwillI don't believe Inlays use to. I have combined about 60 Black Gold Inlays and have only failed 2.Fonceur L'encaisseur

Never know what the future holds. Smithing & Tailoring highest combines are 386. Tinkerers are now up to 404. I would not be suprised to see even higher trivials in other skills in the future.Originally posted by SpikehammerSo what was the reason I did all those annoying sickles for, if my chance to succeed doesn't get better on the high end stuff, seems a bit unfair to me.

I've come to the point, I will never bother with ever using a tradeskill mod when combining anything. That's my own personal belief, I didn't use them when they bumped you a whole worthless 2% to 252, and I am not going to use them now either even when they can bump me upwards of 345.
The combines I do are at their maximum chance for success... too much hassle to even worry about equiping it.

Apart from bragging rights, NONE... The combines with high trivials for which you would expect spending 100k's pp and weeks/months/years skilling up/getting mastery AA's would make it worth it, are actually the ones making those same things useless due to the artificial minimum failure rates...Originally posted by SpikehammerSo what was the reason I did all those annoying sickles for, if my chance to succeed doesn't get better on the high end stuff, seems a bit unfair to me.Fonceur L'encaisseur

I have spent 18 aa's on smithing mastery thinking that would help on the high trivials on DoN armour, but I should of stopped skilling up saved the money and bought shed loads of scales in the bazaar.
300 skill might make a difference on future combines but likely anything nice that can be made will have hard caps anyway.
Anyway I have the bragging rights and I think most people do
tradeskilling just for that reason.

Aye, it is a marketing thing if you are into eqbusiness.
"Do you have mastery 3 and salvage 3?"
If you want the business, you'll need to be able to say yes to this even if the mastery part doesn't do a thing. People don't care too much about wanting to hear all the details about how it doesn't matter, etc, when it's their plats and/or materials on the line.

Is there a hard coded cap for master's don failures? I have noticed this now while doing don master armor in tailoring and in smithing. I am 100+ over the trival on shissar scale / yttium brick precombine yet i am failing at least 1-2 every 20 combines. I think last time i lost something like 7 out of 42. That doesn't seem right unless their is a failure mod on these items. It sux because due to that cap i am scared to do the multi scale / brick combines at once and still back on the 1 per combine due to how hard it is to get these items.
PS: at the time i failed the 7 out of 42 i had a modified skill of 298 smithing with 3 mastery aas. (this isn't the only time i have had runs like this i don't think out of around 200 combines i ever got better then a 19 and 1 failure rate)

Actually, he was asking about Master's, not GM gear, which is what the post you linked is discussing.Sir KyrosKrane Sylvanblade
