Either make the containers tokenizable or collapsible; or else ensure that once you get a container, you can destroy it and get another one back by hailing the NPC that gave it to you. Another alternative is to have quest NPC's give out a non-container item with instructions to hand that item back to them to get the appropriate container.
    3) Ensure that all key items go on the key ring or provide a flag, so that you may destroy the key item once you have it.
    To be brutally honest.

NONE of these are under my control. All I can do is mention to the design team... "It would be nice if..."

I believe 3 will not be a difficult sell to the dev team.
2 may be. The extra container taking up a bank slot *IS* sometimes a consideration. It make you really decide if you want to do the quest at the sacrifice of a bank slot. For Epic's that is doubly true... Epics are meant to be difficult AND force you to make difficult choices.
1 is an "expansion only" type of thing... and will only happen on rare occasions. It gets mentioned most every expansion, so we will just have to see how it goes.

It seems that not all the ores are stackable. I received a PM telling them that the large bricks of steel and small bricks of steel used in the Guardian Arrows recipe (and found only in Surefall Glades) do not stack.

Why do I sense a bit of forshadowing here?

Second the situation with large/small bricks of steel from Surefall - not stackable.

I would like to see the PoK crowd thinned a bit by expanding access other cities have to various raw materials so I could maybe dodge a lot of the spam and lag and get work done back home in Qeynos - fat chance, eh?

And since I mentioned Qeynos, is it possible to fire Nerissa Clothspinner in North Qeynos and assign her inventory to an NPC that DOESN'T take off daily and wander the zone for half the day? She spends a lot of time at that tavern before wandering to Qeynos Hills zone and back...all while I'm in front of the jewelry shop waiting for her with my thumb up my butt. (I have /feedback'd this...but would like some feedback on that~)

a possible easy fix to more storage space?

Wow, its nice to be able to whisper in a dev's ear every now and then.

We are a large community so we come up with a lot of differant ways of looking at things.

My idea is a rather simple one actually and is based on what I think is sound logic.

We already have in game containers of 2,4,6,8 and 10 slots...so why not special tradeskill bags kinda like the traders sachels but with say 12-16 slots.
(even if the number of slots in a container are limited to a 4 bit description you could have 15 slots 1+2+4+8= 15)

To keep everyone from loading all thier slots with them I propose some sort of limiting device, ie... they are quested, weigh as much as traders sachel, are made through tradeskill only or some such.

Just an idea, I don't know how much coding would be involved in making a container with more slots.

In addition to this bank slot issue, why not at a new container that has 20 or 30 slots. Make this container very, very heavy so that it is only useful to have in your bank slots, and not inventory slots. This would probably do more, and possibly be easeir than having to incorporate 8 more bank slots into the game.

Because that requires a Code Change.

Anytime code is involved, no matter how minor the change seems... it is not simple.

                  and another code problem there.

Nothing can be heavier than 25.4 (25.5 is a special case)

and that frankly is not heavy enough.

The devs have repeatedly said that making containers bigger than ten slots would require rewriting some pretty deep, foundational code for the game. That's not to say it won't ever happen, but it does mean that it would take a lot of programming time.

I'm pretty sure that enlarging the bank would also take a hefty chunk of time, but there is precedent for this -- the eight extra bank slots added with LoY. Since they've done it before, it might be easier for them to recreate the changes for another eight bank slots.

Ngreth, my solutions weren't intended to be something you should do right away, and I'm sorry if they came across like that. Rather, they were suggestions for solutions based on problems that I'm seeing in the game. I just presented the problem, its cause, a solution, and why I think the solution fits the problem. I realize some of my suggestions are harder to implement than others, and I'd be happy to buy another expansion if it meant more bank slots.

On a semi related note, I remember one of the marketing types at SoE mentioning once that EQ's best-selling expansion was in fact LoY. Since that expansion was primarily an interface-based expansion, rather than a content-based one, maybe there's fodder there to create another mini-expansion between cycles or something, full of new interface changes like more bank space?

One final note about zone keys and flags. A corollary to getting rid of flag and key items is to have some way to check what flags you have. You can check the keyring with /key, and you can check your traditional PoP flagging path status at the Seer, but off the top of my head, I can't think of other ways to check your progress or keys (including PoP backflagging alternatives, which seem to be very item-dependent). Expanding the Seer's abilities to check and list ALL your flags would be a super way to centralize all of this into one location.

Even better and easier for everyone, would be to have it all list under your /keyring.. People would finally be able to understand what they have or don't have.

I would DEFINATELY buy an expansion JUST for 8 more bank slots! Add in any one or two other interface improvements, such as an easier way to check factions, track flags, a TRUE quest journal that tracks progress in all quests....

Ooooo, a quest journal that not only tracks GoD tasks, OoM/DoN/DoD missions, and old world quests? Now THAT would be a quest journal!

                          Re: storage space

Hmm more then 10 slots takes serious coding and extra bank slots takes coding and the object weight limit is 25.4.....ok how about a special box that lets you put packed containers of stuff in them...a bag in a bag problem....I know

Just trying to figure out an easy way to add storage that doesn't require a lot of coding hours....I shall have to go sit on a stump and think.

I'm guessing that any thing you think of will require a code change. If you can think of some way to magically stuff more bits of database info into the same space without losing anything, get a patent quick!

Actually, I remember someone posting on the boards here in detail how it could be done. It requires a coding technique called "overloading" -- to oversimplify, that means using the data fields in a way different than their normal meaning. The problem is that you have to be very careful when handling data. If you try to process normal data as overloaded data, or vice versa, you can end up with a real mess.
