Salvage returning all items

I currently have Salvage 3. I've been making fletching trophies to skill up fletching, which require two components per combine. When I get a salvage, I always get a single component returned. I have never gotten both components returned on a salvage. I know that it used to be possible to get all components back on a fail -- a friend of mine did an Omens augment combine (three items, plus two more that are returned on both success and fail) not long after salvage came out, and she had Salvage 3. She failed and got all three "lost" components back, plus the normally-returned two.

My question is, has anyone recently managed to salvage ALL the components on a fail?

No, but last time I was doing gm symbols, I had a combine that returned two items. So, I'd say it is just luck.

I can't refer you to anything in particular, but I've always had the impression that each individual ingredient gets a separate salvage check. So it'd be just luck, in your case rotten luck.

I suspect it is just bad luck. That's why I'm posting here. I'm hoping to get confirmation from someone that they did salvage everything recently. If no one at all has had that happen of late, then it may be worth investigating more deeply.

Kyros, I have salvage 1 and more than once I have gotten back 2 items. I have never recieved all my items back, but doing arrows (4 item combine) I often got 2. Last week when I hit 300 I got 2 twice in about 10 combines.

I recently got Salvage 3 (directly from no Salvage at all) and the first combine afterwards returned ALL items (was doing Unfired Star Ruby Encrusted Steins).

i saw a salvage in the last week or so with 3 of the 4 consumed items returned on a salvage. salvage 3 here. can't remember what i was making, though...

With Salvage 3, was doing DoN cultural wrist item and I had all items return on failure. I was quite shocked. Of course the next combine I failed and lost them all.

Had 3 ingrediants back from a recent research combine. My favourite is the misty thicket picnic combine I once did, and I got back all bar one ingrediant. Now why couldnt that happen on my 100kp combines

I have never had all items returned but I have had multiple items returned.

It is a check on each individual item. Tanker can correct me if I am wrong, but It does not track at all if you already got an item, or if you got the previous item, or anything... between checks. It just loops through it.

So it is just luck

It's been a few months but doing brewing to 300 on those wonderful 9-piece combines, I did manage once to get all 9 pieces back.

Couldn't stop laughing for about 2 minutes.

I have also within the last month or two gotten all DoN cultural pieces back on a failed try.

Bah, wouldn't you know it. Yesterday, while doing another tradeskill run, I had both trophy components returned twice. =) Guess I fell into the trap of seeing a pattern where none existed.
