  • Problem with Parts for Belfast

Yesterday I decided to start this quest, 6 hours later I had to log, and did so with 9/10 scraps collected, 2x Blade of the Once Bitten(listed as very rare drop), 2x Burrownizer Belts (one rotted another went to a lucky guildies alt, and also a random rare drop), and many other drops from the nameds Creeper, Vernon, and an Oozing Coranthus. I guess all of this is to say isn't this just a little bit much? I mean it appears this tenth page is above even being listed as very rare. Six hours of killing the, imo too few creep reapers in the zone, and still not done with just the first step.

As it stands now, reapers are perma camped, I just don't have the play time to wait out most of the people camping them, and for me KSing just isnt an option, and never should be. Please note if you are a caster Im sure you may not be familiar with this problem as the needed pages can be traded to you. However, for the priest/hybrid/melee versions of the tasks, he HAVE TO LOOT ALL TEN SCRAPS.

Im kinda new to the TSing scene, so perhaps Im a bit impatient or something, but at 248 Smithing (started becuase there were no erudite GM smiths on Fennin Ro to make GM Seashine Cuirass) I have done my fair share of camping each and everysingle wailing/shrieking/swirling shadow I have used since EVBs, and did not mind it too much. This particular task just does not make sense to me, not only in the insane amount of time spent to obtain all ten scraps, but the lack of balance in the difficulties of the different versions of the task coupled with a low mob count. Add on top of that you can not tell if what you are looting is a duplicate of a scrap you already have, and even grouping/sharing is out of the picture. I have no less than 6 of all the other scraps, in a few cases 9 or more of a particular scrap.

On the less whiny side of things, if anyone knows of another spot that i can camp these scraps please let me know. Im a 70 cleric and with my current stats/gear I can handle things that quad 300s solo, or even somethings myself and a necro can duo for them.

Ohh I just alt tabbed back, a BST that has held the camp since i went to sleep just got his last page....only took him about 11ish straight hours of camping......

From my experience any clockwork model that mimics the human form can drop the scraps (i.e. not the spiders). I had much better success rate from the super-plated clockworks and they have a much faster respawn.

The faction hits for doing it this way seemed small. I killed about 75 of them and no change from amiable.

I believe the rat models drop them too. I killed a ton of all types and my faction is still indiff. All types can drop the pinion gears and such that are needed for the next couple steps.

And there are missions with clockwork if you have a group... I think those also drop the parts.

I agree with the OP - it's frustrating to have such a limited number of viable spawns. It seems silly to me to kill the people I'm helping, so I try to avoid that.

The Reapers are nearly perma camped, and the scraps are not identifiable before looting, and not lore, so I end up with 9/10 done and 15 of one particular scrap... can't even let a friend loot it, because it just *might* be my gnome's last scrap.

I'm interested in checking out some of those clockwork quests... I did feedback it in game, though, cause I think the current implementation is pretty silly.

What really ticked me off was the level 68 reapers at the other end of the zone. They have either incredibly high regen, or 2 million hp. So after 20 minutes with my sk/shm duo and going nearly oom with both, I finally get one to zero and he poofs and one of the laying down models appears in his place. No xp, no corpse, no loot... You start out scowling with these things, but can raise faction theoretically, but I cant imagine anyone killing enough to get above dubious. It would take months.

I confirm that at least gnome models (super-plated, etc) drop scraps. That's of course after I camped just creeps for 12 hours for my own quest... oh well.

The scraps are the easy part, sadly. The 2nd task he gives, to collect the gears, is at least as rare as the 10 scraps, maybe worse. I understand those also drop more often off the 328 faction mobs. Had I known how little the faction reductions are I would have just slaughtered everything.

Those are for some event (don't know the event) and that is why they act weirdly.

Anyone can do a basic identify on anything they can get a link for.
If you ;tell <link> you get the error message: Cannot find player <bunch of garbage>. The first part of that garbage is the database number. Before the DoD changes it was in decimal, now it is in Hex, but you don't really have to convert it. All you care about is that the first 8-10 digits are different for every item (for items that are next to each other in the database you will generally only see 1-2 digits difference). So if you write down the numbers of which parts you have already collected, you will know whether or not the one dropped is one you need, or already have. You can use the same trick to determine if the Jester summoned food/drink is poison, or to see if the Vampyre Volatilis Ashes you find in the bazaar are really the ones you need.

I believe they "fixed" this. It isn't working for identifying good/bad jester stuff, anymore. As of a couple of weeks ago, at least.

The numbers are different than they used to be, but it still works.

I don't remember which digit it is, somewhere in the first 10 or so (I know it well enough to recognize, but not repeat).
But yes, it used to be much easier when the first set of numbers (with a dash separating them from the rest) could just be typed into Lucy.

I'm HIE Ench totally stuck at the part of quest where you have the task to buy the 'Spell Research Kit'. Bought it over and over, and still won't update the task.

Weird. I'm not getting any message at all now with the bread/wine. Not that the numbers have changed (used to be that even was good, odd was bad...or maybe the reverse.) Now, it just accepts the command (no "Invalid command" message) but returns no information. Just me?
