Hi guys. Note that, for the purposes of this line item, a tool is defined as anything that is both a component and a successful result of the combine. If a recipe has such a tool that is LORE (and no other LORE result), then it will not block the recipe. LORE recharges should still work.

I consider myself moderately wealthy in the game, my level 59 main having between a half million and a million plat in gear on, my next several favorites having hundreds of thousands in gear, and most of the rest of my 16 toons on two accounts having tens of thousands in gear...but the idea of buying tons of 3k seals just to gain the relatively tiny number of skillups possible still is way beyond my grasp.Originally posted by KyrosKraneBah. I just realized that this change (the lore one, I mean) makes it essentially impossible to use trophies as a skillup path unless you destroy your trophy before starting. (And yes, some people have been reduced to using this path for fletching so far.)
But I agree that this is more of a nerf than a help, because there are certainly times when:
* I am combining some difficult item which is lore
* It is not worth logging out and extracting from the shared bank each time a combine succeeds
* but where I do want to be sure I end up with one in my hands (as well as one in the shared bank) when my ingredients run out.
At a time like that, I keep the first one, then just keep doing combines, the lore items vanishing into thin air when a combine succeeds.
One generally makes a /mistake/, wasting the rare ingredients for an expensive combine, only once, and only because one effed up. And effing up is part of playing a /challenging/ game. And challenge is most of the reason most people play a game.
On the other hand, one might want to make combines for skill ups while not discarding the original on a regular basis.
So, as is too often the case, MORE people may be losing out MORE regularly, just to "fix" a relatively rare occurrance.
I do think they need to spend less time micromanaging us, and more time on more significant and clear-cut fixes (example: MANY people, even with the most current drive, either can't play full screen or can't play in a window because EQ crashes), undoing "fixes" and nerfs which are no longer...or never were...necessary (example: Now that pets can't be aggroed sponteneously, they don't need the nerf on necro pets, causing them to vanish during a long FD), or adding actually new and creative content to the game (example THIS expansion seems like the first really new, creative one in a VERY long time).
I don't count increasing DPS/resists, and a few new graphics and mob names as a "creative" expansion.
This new expansion, though, seems quite spectacular (and I was in the beta). It is probably the first really new ideas in the entire MMORPG genre in a long time (including EQ2). Of course part of it is also like Monster Player Characters, which they tested and (mistakenly, I've always said and seem now proven correct) ditched a long time ago.Last edited by Kaz; 09-13-2005, 02:50 PM.

That's irrelevent to my point...long BEFORE the september 7th patch, there was a post on here saying the soy sauce recipe existed, causing us to waste insane amounts of time trying to find it by trial and error. The Soy sauce recipe was live as of the previous (Sept 7) patch, the message was just not in that patch message so they put it in this one.

Have you confirmed that this is still a problem after today's patch? Come to think of it, did this recharge ever work?Originally posted by TankerHi guys. Large bricks of high quality ore are used for things other than cultural. Ornate chain and LDoN armor come to mind (I believe, double check).Originally posted by Rendael BrighWhy is there a need for HQ ore vendors to have a limited supply in the first place when other races have unlimited ore supply vendors?
Small bricks I believe may be used for other things as well.
But I do feel for you that you have to work with a limited supply when other races do not. My race also does not share the metal with non-cultural recipies.

As someone who has skilled up on lore combines in the past, and was planning on doing EVB when spell stacking went live, I am unhappy with the lore change. However, as someone who last month learned the hard way that RGC is lore, I am overjoyed.

In reality, it's a long overdue change, and for precisely the reason that you just mentioned. As someone who has skilled up on lore combines in the past, and was planning on doing EVB when spell stacking went live, I am unhappy with the lore change. However, as someone who last month learned the hard way that RGC is lore, I am overjoyed.
Imagine how sad you would be if you did a combine on a Grandmaster level Breastplate or Augment and discovered that you just lost it due to it being lore and you already had one.

Have you actually tried it?Originally posted by TeloreaFor example: I can no-longer recharge my Vermilion Sky Ring, when I try combining it in the appropriate quest-container with the mana battery I get the LORE error message - It will not let me recharge it because the result of the combine is a LORE ring that I already have.
this should work. if one the the results (the ring) is the SAME as one of the components (the ring) then it is supposed to let it pass. When I was on beta helping him test this, I did not test that in particular, but I did test some of the other times when this was true and it let it pass.
If it is actually causing problems, can you give us more info that I can give to Tanker for testing... I.E. what is the container, what is the battery?
