  • Proposed racial modifier for DoN combines

Seems everyone is in an uproar over minimum chance to fail DoN combines. While I can see the point to scaling success rates down, starting at 300 skill + mastery 3, this presents a huge balancing issue.

Per EQ rankings, across all servers, every race has at least 1 300 tailor. (Wood Elf has 20). Expect for Frogloks and Ogres. Since only, say, an Ogre can make the basic DoN leather armor piece, then any modification to success levels which does not factor in existing tradeskiller population skill levels would impact different races (and classes) differently.

Clearly skill up paths differ in difficulty from one race to another. Clearly it is built into the game mechanics to make use of other players tradeskills. (Otherwise the armor pieces would not be tradeable.)

So here is my twist. Make a positive modifier to success rates based on skillup difficulty for that race, or on based on the existing tradeskiller population, or just make the freakin' items better.

I think there is only 1 piece of GM Bloodpact armor on Fennin Ro. My gloves. No other GM bloodpact items show up in /buyer search.

I am most familiar with the lack of availibility of Ogre Leathers, but I am sure there are other race/classes that feel excluded from the high end DoN armors.

How many ogres can wear leather? So how many ogres can be bothered to skill up tailoring (which is the pita of all tradeskills) just for DoN cultral armour?

Will be very hard to impossible to code in these sort of modifiers just to "even out" the availability of certain race/armour combinations.

Look at Barbarians, Old World cultral had smithed "leather" for the beasties, now any barb beasty who wants GM armour has to either convince someone mad enough to skill up tailoring or do it themselves.

Tis a fact of the game I'd say.

        Shamans wear chain.

Ogre Beastlords are in the same boat as the Barbarian Beastlords... possibly worse as I bet theres less Ogre BST's than Barbarian.

Come on over to Luclin, have a full set of Bloodpact... of every tier =) Still, I'm only up to 284 tailoring, *still* kicking myself over not getting around to doing all those robe+wyvern combines I had stockpiled before the suprise nerf... I've spent somewhere around 5-600k going from 252 to 284, buying up othmir fur and shimmering ukun hides.

Saw your name at the top of Tailoring on eqrankings. Took a look at your magelo and, well, just plain wow. I too have been skilling up on Ukun hides, but my last few runs havent been givin' me the love. Backin' away from tailoring the moment. I still dont have the heart to kill the little fez wearin' critters, so not been pursuing otters at the moment.

And I just noticed. Even though you have triple all of my stats and hp and such, I still have more mana that you, hehe
