Tip for searching items with quotes

I use this site like nuts, and in the past the recipes I've needed that have quotes in the name I've just searched for a smaller part of the word or words.
However, with DoN, I find it a major pain to search for Master's this, or Journeyman's that. Yeah, you can find all the Protectorate stuff, or quick trivial, etc, but for those of you that are really just stubborn (like me), you CAN 'escape sequence' the quote.

So for searching the recipes for the Master's Protectorate items, do a search for master\'s protectorate and you'll get just what you wanted.

So Ak'anon would be ak\'anon.

Didn't see this information anywhere else in the forums, so thought I'd share.

Since this site is using mysql it might even be possible to do the full quoted escape of backticks (`name of item including quotes`), but hopefully not, since that would open the server up to custom queries.

{Edit 5 min later. Okay, if you just type it Expert's wealdstone C, you actually get the Expert's wealdstone Curiass returned?? Cool... or weird... The ' didn't use to work}

{Edit 30 s after that one.... Okay, if you try Ak'anon it doesn't work... but expert's does? The "escape" never seems to work for me. :/}

Yeah, my assumption gone bad. Works with Master's, Journeyman's, etc. But doesn't appear to work with Ak'anon. I even copied and pasted it from the name in case I was misspelling it, and inserted the backslash to escape it. Still no luck.
Odd, the data must have been entered into the database differently.

Some of the items with apostrophies are entered into the database such that they can be searched for with regular apostrphies, others are entered differently and would require the slash. As best as I can tell, there's not a pattern to determine which are which way.

The Ak'anon item was somehow bugged. It's fixed now. I can find it in a search.

I made a code change that changes the ' to & # 0 3 9 ; (no spaces)

this makes it handle so much better. the \ in t he \' would have a tendency to "grow" (I found one that was \\\\\\\' once)

I then tried converting all data in the DB... but it seems to have missed a few for some reason.

I will TRY and remember to run another data conversion pass on Sunday.

If one of our DB admins edits an item... it will also be converted... not that I want them to edit the 883 items with ' in it... but that does "fix" it It may be needed for the few that may still misbehave after my data pass

Keep in mind there is the apostrophe (') and then there is the accent mark (`), for which I don't know the name, that shares a key on the keyboard with the tilda, under the Escape key on most (American) keyboards. We try to use whichever character, the apostrophe or the accent mark, that is used in game. They are sometimes inconsistent in game, and I'm sure we sometimes use the wrong one. For that reason as much as anything else, I try to avoid all forms of punctuation when searching our database, as much as possible. So not all of the problem is the database's dislike for that one character....
