  • Frogs now have access to gnome culteral?

Someone pointed out to me last night that since the recent patch where the frogs were kicked out of Grobb, the gnome culteral armor now allows Frogs to use it! At first I dismissed it, but when I check my gear, I found out that he was indeed correct.

Now, at least for the blue diamond culteral (ie clockwork observer armor) there's a precendent that other races can use culteral armor if of the correct deity. However, the gnome armor never had a deity associated with it in the past. And furthermore, if any race outside of gnome should be able to use this armor, I would think that dwarves would be more in sync rather than frogs, given we both worship Brell?

However, the same is now true of the DON Cultered armor, and this definately strikes me as a problem. Since all of the races were to get their own race specific crafted armor, why are the frogs now able to use the gnome version?

I bugged this in game yesterday, but I was curious if anyone has heard anything from the developers on this.

The frogs can use gnome don cultural armor? This isn't updated on lucy yet on any of the items that I can see.

Maybe they wanted to up the chances that somebody would actually MAKE the gnome don cultural armor. The silk gnome cultural sure doesn't see much action, mostly because it kinda sucks.

Could you give us an example?

I just checked Lucy for the chain-class armors, since Frogloks can now be rogues. Farsight (froglok chain) armor still lists only shaman. Servolinked (gnome chain) armor still lists only gnome rogue.

I also checked the robe-class armors, since Frogloks can now be Necromancers. Metalofiber (gnome silk) armor still lists gnomes, all four classes. Lorekeeper (froglok silk) armor still lists only froglok wizard.

I also looked through the older tinkered armor sets, Clockwork Observer, Clockwork Shadowwalker and Clockwork Watchman. According to Lucy, all these are still Gnome only.

Of course, Lucy may not be current.
I tried combining Celestial Solvent, a Raw Rough Hide, Rough Hide Solution and a Skinning Knife. But the result was such an oxymoron, it opened a rift into another universe. I fell through into one of Nodyin's spreadsheets and was slain by a misplaced decimal.

FRG is showing on the DoN gnomish cultural Autoactuated armor at least, e.g., http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=91763.

EQItems is reflecting that frogs can wear the gnomish DoN cultural (see http://eqitems.13th-floor.org/itemse...e=autoactuated). I have noticed that they tend to get updates sooner than lucy does. From the reference link, you can mouse over the items to see the stats... i checked the first half of them and they all list the Autoactuated as being frog usable.

In my inventory, I carry a Clockwork Observer Breastplate (for clicky invis) and I wear the Grandmaster DoN Culteral plat armor. Last night, when I looked, both now have FRG in addition to gnome listed.

Here's my Magelo which I just got done updating. Click on my Breastplate and you will clearly see the change: http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=1007012

HA! If I can ever get my little gnomish hands on some more (have all of 1 swatch atm) coarse spider silk, I plan on making and using the tunic and legs (everything else can go to the clockwork cleaners).

I believe the Clockwork Observer armor is different than the cultural armor that other people are discussing (which came to us via DoN.) I believe it's the DoN armor that has the froggies now, not the Clockwork Observer armor. Since gnomes already had some nice cultural, I think people could be confusing the two.

The DoN armor (unaugmented) has the class and racial restrictions on them. You add in the augment and it becomes diety restricted as well (note to self, be sure to buy the correct augment. /grrrr.)

Nolrog, both now have FRG included. I know because I carry both on my main. (I keep the observer BP around for clicky invis.)

This was not true before the last patch. Observer armor has always been gnome only before. Well, with the following caveat: someone on a tinkering board mentioned that FRG was BRIEFLY included on Observer armor after the release of Ykesha, but it was corrected in a subsequent patch.

My view is this is a bug that's rearing it's head again because they tinkered with the Frogs (no pun intended) during the last patch.

That's interesting. I thought it was just the DoN cultural. Sounds like they did a global search and replace. Would have been better if they gave froggies their own cultural though.

My question is, if the frogs can now wear our armor. Can they also make our armor? Using smithing, or tailoring of course. But really, the ability to make the different armors was the main reason for getting tinkering anywhere near the higher levels. If frogs can make the armor now, it'll just give even less of a reason to tinker and more competition over tradeskill items.

Then again, maybe this has something to do with Froglok's ability to be SK's and necro's soon. I guess we'll have to see.

The only armor that I have seem with Frg listed as well as gnome is on the Autoactuated. I checked some chain (servolinked) and silk (metalofiber) and they still only show Gnm as usable race.

Just to add to this, the formerly gnome only "Frizznik's Robe of Tinkering" is also FRG usable now. Now if frogs can tinker.. I'll be an upset gnomer! /rawr~

Punting frogs just isn't the same.
