  • Hey Denmom.

I have a little request that i would pitch to you since sony actually reads this board and you are respected.

As you know, when a person puts a point into a skill for the first time, they get the persons level as their base skill number, with 20 as the maximum. Currently, however, If i used a skill point at level 1 to start a skill and then neglected the skill until later, say level 21, and put another point into it, the person would only get one point raised, up to skill level 2. This seems like something that could be modified without hurting tradeskills. What if the limit was removed, and a 65th level character wanted to consider starting a tradeskill. One point into a tradeskill would give them a 65 skill to start out with(or equal to the level of the character). This would reduce the amount of camping neccessary by high level people after green mobs for pelts, silk, and other annoying things.

Im sure you would not like to see more people interested in tradeskills, and with the new items in the game, many people are considering it, and would probably be much less reluctant if they had a head start, so to speak. Personally, i would be happy if verant gave us something else to do with our unused skill points, but this seems as good an idea as any.

    Thanks for listening

I would really like to respond to this, but it got posted in Denmum's forum. I think it may be better served in the general tradeskills questions/topics sections? I'd hate to get a long one going in the "notes to denmum" area.

Personally, I would not want to see this.

It's already so much easier for high level characters to skill up in Tradeskills (easier access to supplies, higher stats, bigger bank accounts, etc.). This is not something I would be happy to see.

Me neither.. theres 2 types of EQ players (ok more than 2 but just talking about 2 right here)

        1) the one that EXP EXP EXP EXP's non stop til they hit 65 and 140 AA or whatever, raid raid raid exp exp exp loot loot loot... and then when they max out everything they go oh maybe i'll GM tailoring or something and pay tons of cash for stuff and raise the prices on supplies but then turn around and sell what they make for almost nothing...

        2) the one that quests and tradeskills and explores and looks for new receipes and what not in the midst of leveling up and eventually getting gear upgrades etc...

I don't want it to be any easier for the type 1 player, they already have access to enough stuff as it is, boo hoo the first few levels of tradeskills (1-65 in this case) go by so quickly anyway make them work at it like the type 2 peeps did.
