I tried combining Celestial Solvent, a Raw Rough Hide, Rough Hide Solution and a Skinning Knife. But the result was such an oxymoron, it opened a rift into another universe. I fell through into one of Nodyin's spreadsheets and was slain by a misplaced decimal.

      Simple,

+10 WIS, +50 CHA, nowthat tradeskills can go past 250, the +5% mod.

      All in one slot!

Plus the bag, and most importantly,

      Because I can!

Hark! Who is that, prowling along the fields! It is Draggar De'VIr, hands clutching two hardened pitas! He cries gutterally: "In the name of Thor the Mighty, I hereby void your warranty, and send you back to God!!!"

If you're one of these rather odd people that hang around here who do multiple tradeskills in the 220+ range, there is a very good reason.

        PRIMARY SECONDARY RANGE AMMO

You can have 4 different ones equipped at once and do multiple combines without having to swap out. Many receipes use multiple skills during the sub-combine process. The BD cultural armor uses Pottery, Brewing, Tailoring AND Smithing combines to get the final result.

one reason to get the trophy

I am told (I don't have one yet) that while the stats do not work for trophies in the ammo slot, the skill mod will.

If that is the case then you can keep good stat items in your primary/secondary/range instead of using a gearlock.

Other than that possible reason I'm not sure why I'd spend the plat on a trophy.

          edit:
I see Qaladar Bragollach commented on this already.

Not 100% - I made a number of Ogre Sewing Kits - they are only Large sized - not Giants sized.

For most things, I don't think that'll matter, but it might in a couple of situations. Not being a tailor, I can't comment on how restrictive that is, but as a normal container, it's fairly restrictive - I can't store half of my 2HS in there... hehe.

Still - I prefer weight reduction bags in any case for those heavier items like that.

You seem to have a severe problem with their justification ... how about you actually provide an argumentative reason WHY they are not needed?

I'm sure plenty of ppl have posted arguments defending their usefulness .... so, don't just pull the random_noob_003 crap and state 'why does everyone need trophies instead of just using geerloks?' .... REALLY provide a concise argument to eliminate them ... or just keep skilling up until you can actually make one for yourself.
Hmmm...the arguments have been stated, and are pretty self-evident.

Economically, ALL things must be justified, not anti-justified. One doesn't default to doing all quests and owning all items; one must discriminate.

In this case, though, the basic reason it works that way...economy...is most evident. We're talking about an item which costs around 4k to TRY to make, and may take a half dozen tries to succeed.

But, more basically, my question was "why should I do this, is it only for status?" There was never any argument that they shouldn't exist, only a question of whether I had better reasons to risk thousands of plat than being able to mention it in my tradeskill auctions.

I ran across, a few days ago, an old post where we were assured that raising the skill cap above 252 was "not under consideration".

Certain forces here frown upon disparaging remarks about SOE's predictability/reliability/competence, but suffice it to say that, for better or worse, things don't always work out as we're told they will.

and what almost always people leave out is the "currently"
At the time the question was asked... it was "currently not under consideration".

That currently makes a big difference.

Currently the code will not allow them to make a "focus" or "effect" that will give a bonus to all tradeskills.

Currently they have decided to spend more time on making new skillup paths, modifying old paths, and many other things, over making a super trophy. So currently they are not considering it. That does not mean that they never will. It does not mean they are breaking a promise to never make on if they decide to make one. What they are trying to do is guide your expectations for one. Do not expect one any time soon, because they have not plans AT THIS TIME to make one. (or at that time. I think since then they have decided to put it on the "consider... but far in the future" list... I am not sure there though, so don't quote me)
