I was farming the Wood Elf Bandits in Gfay just south of Kelethin and up until a week ago I was pulling wood elf parts ... quite a few in the mob drops. After this last patch, however I keep getting the gold bandit teeth, and no parts! Are they no longer droping parts, or is the drop less common now?

Howdy,
I think you answered your own question.
1) Did they drop the teeth before?
2) Were you getting a higher percentage of wood elf parts before?
3) Precisely how much farming in GFay do you figure most posters here do?
My -guess- is the teeth are for the newly expanded lowbie (10-20) armor quests.
When the armor quests were put in the mobs that used to drop only tradeskill stuff (spiders in Misty Thicket for example) now had expanded loot tables, which effectively made tradeskill drops more rare. (Especially happened on spiderling silk, making silk thread, used for leather padding, used for mid/high smithing, a lot more rare. And you can find a LOT of threads here related to spiderlings.)
Short answer... yes the drops from those mobs are gonna be less frequent. Sorry. In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

When I read the patch message about the new tutorial and new level 10-20 armor quests, I didn't even think about how it would affect farming for tradeskills. I must be slipping. Now I wonder what other items will be affected... spider silks maybe, low quality pelts, swirling mist, elven blood, pixie dust... there's a lot of possibilities.83/1000 High Elven Enchanter on cazic (8x300 tradeskills)

If you're looking for wood elf parts, the best place really is the sisters isle in OOT (think that's the zone). The errolisi wood elf females drop them almost every time I've found.Originally posted by lilmistyI was farming the Wood Elf Bandits in Gfay just south of Kelethin and up until a week ago I was pulling wood elf parts ... quite a few in the mob drops. Um... gee... that's a pretty powerful statement. I at first wondered if you'd taken the time to check all of the new armor quests for Wood Elves and High Elves, and Dwarves and Gnomes as well, but decided to check Alla just in case.Originally posted by TyfoldI did the lowbie armour quest involving the bandits in question on my tinkbot. The teeth are not at all related, nor is any loot from the bandits.
Golden Bandit Tooth
Gee, I count .... _13_ newbie armor quests (Alla hasn't entered all the upgraded lowbie armor quests yet) and _3_ DoN cultural armor quest that use them.
They increased the drop rate of newbie quest armor pieces AND DoN cultural quest drops?
Like they said they would?
Am...az...ing...
See I would have said "canabilistic parts drop pretty frequently in Gunthak/Dulak/Torgian over in LoY" and suggested offering trades in barter
(two troll parts for a wood elf part or some such)
But I figured that if they were hunting bandits in GFay (level roughly 10'ish) they didn't want to fight mobs in the 35-50 range. In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.

Oh youre thinking that far back in time. Sorry, I thought you were talking about this very latest patch with the new lowbie armour quests, for which everyone gets the same quests and tasks, and for which my statement is perfectly true.
And Hey, isn't this latest patch what the OP was talking about, not those old ones?

I don't even get why they stuck more 10-20 lvl quests in there, but to deflate the ts drops for them is just upsetting. I went to crushbone and killed slaves for wood elf parts btw, yeah bad faction hits, but I've killed so many orcs there I was max kos to them.Originally posted by TyfoldOh youre thinking that far back in time. They -increased- the drop rates for the newbie armors (because, and this should surprise no one, they'd like to have MORE newbies) and DoN cultural. As they said they would.
And people complain.
/em wanders off for new rope
Also, the original poster didn't say what level, class or race they are. But I guess the presumption I had was they were HUNTING rather than FARMING the bandits. So I just presumed they didn't want negative "light race" faction hits, couldn't farm mid-20's mobs, or a combination of factors which made the bandits the best source of wood elf meat.
Sucks a little when things like this happen, but hopefully it's not as bad as the changes to spiderlings back in the day.In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.

To clarify my original post...
Ok guys...just to clarify. I'm a 36 lvl druid and I was farming the elves for their parts. Originally I found them to be beneficial for the farming as I don't want to incur negative faction hits. It was also a convenient spot to forage cinnamon as well, which I have a hard time finding. Any other mobs that may drop the parts that wont incur bad faction?? And thank you all so much for contributing to my first thread here at eqtc.

According to Allakhazam there aren't many good options.
a brownie scout in lesser fay, level 3, very rare to drop the parts
Glyndur Tindel in lesser fay, level 25, almost always drops parts, HORRIBLE faction hits for light races (you didn't say what race, if you are a halfling it might be liveable, but a wood elf would be KOS in there home town so Origin/Return Home would be... not wise)
Lockjaw in Oasis of Marr, semi-rare named, not too hard, but parts will be semi-rare on a semi-rare spawn
Antinime (and other non-named-sisters) in Ocean of tears, all pretty easy kills, but bad faction hits, though these are High Elf factions rather than wood elf factions... so if you thought you'd be KOS in Felwithe eventually from hunting in PoGrowth... go for it.
So... bandits and brownies and Lockjaw for pretty darn rare drops.... or kill elves yourself and take the rotten faction hits.
Not much of a choice

Another option would be to kill the Dark Elves in Najena for Dark Elf parts. Only faction hit there is for Najena.
A fast relatively cheap way to increase baking though is to make Patty Melts.
Then maybe move on to Halas 10 Lb Meat Pies (but make sure you have a lot of GIANT backpack slots open for them).

Dark Elf parts != Wood Elf parts. They are not interchangeable. One drops VERY rarely in Faydwer'ish zones. The other (dark elf parts) are common as all get out in Gunthak/Dulak. I'm almost positive that lilmisty isn't doing it for Baking skill ups. They are doing it for the Bazaar I'd guess.
As I previously stated, if the poster were just looking for "canibalistic food" components LoY zones are much better suited for them. (Even if you just go vendor diving for them.) But again most of the racial drops come off mobs in the mid-30's and up. So now that we know the posters level and class that might be feasible... but I remember having a pretty hard time duo at level 40 with cleric/beastlord combo (TheWife and I, not 2-boxing) so I think a 36-40 druid would be hard pressed to deal with adds in the Gunthak fort area.
Given that the Wood Elf parts are so unusual, and involve taking some light race faction hits, and that most people BUYING them want them for the Crown of Deciet (spelling?) quest... even offering 4 to 1 trades for them in /barter might be hard to pull off.
So... short answer remains.... Yes, Wood Elf parts are harder to come by now. Sorry. In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
