I have a different problem - people sit AROUND me

Most of my chars are on the smaller side and invariably as soon as I set up as a trader, someone will come over and engulf me (usually under their robe). In third person I can't see any sign of my former self only the very rude amoebic person who doesn't want me to sell anything. What makes it worse is I am usually not selling anything particularly competitive, so it is just that someone feels they need to be rude to little folk.

I, as well, am I mean, vindictive, little man.
For the record, I've never seen Xev at 500, but I do kick out the people that set up /trader in my spot ^_^
Great . . . all of these tactics seem like the EQ social equivalent of standing around farting to try and get someone to move (but even worse as you are trying to knock them off line from a game they pay to play and have every much right as you do to be connected to.) Do you also train folks who are at a camp you "think is yours" when you arrive?

I think these "petulant" types ought to have a mod rod shoved where the sun don't shine (or the EQ equivalent of having their account ripped a new one by being banned or suspended).

While I agree the trader limit is becoming more problematic (and may get worse - see my related post in Trader Limit message) the problem should be brought up with Sony. Vigalante style self help methods should earn the users a one way ticket to The Hole (preferably by being thrown off the cliff in Paineel - maybe by a shot of Invert Gravity just for show (unless of course "sparklies" are turned off) - while a crowd of serious tradeskilling, but honest players, stands by and cheers!)

Why would someone who is afk have less of a right to be in trader mode? They are paying just as much as you are to be there. Plus, why on Earth (or Norrath) would you not be afk while in trader mode? Do you actually sit and stare at the screen, praying that someone buys your stuff in the first 5 minutes you are on so that you can go back to hunting or skilling?

If anyone should get priority, I think the people who have actually spent the money on an extra account so that they could have a trader on 24/7, would have more of a right to be here than you. (I would love it, but i'm too **** cheap)

How to fix this. Simple... When a player is in Trader mode and has not hit a key or moved the mouse for 10 mins, have the game auto set the player as AFK. Next, when the limit of 500 is reached in the bazaar the oldest AFK player is auto kicked to non-Trader mode and the next request for trader is given to a new trader. Third, if the kicked player is still online 10 mins. after they are kicked from trader mode... Kick them from the game as asleep.
Fact of the matter is, 500 people are not going to sit in front of their computer being sure to click something every 10 minutes so they don't get booted out of trader mode. That is rediculous. We waste enough of our time playing this game (love every minute though). I would like to use my time at the computer to actually accomplish something, instead of staring blankly at the screen waiting for a buyer.

Also, if ANY trader sells out of their items they are dropped on the spot from trader mode and kicked in 10 mins if they don't move or place items in trader mode to sell.
        This, I can agree with.

          First come, first serve

Why does any player have more of a right to trade than any other? What's wrong with me going into trader mode overnight while I sleep? Almost all of my sales have been made while I was AFK. Do I need to stay up 24/7 next to the computer to have a right to trade? As far as kicking off traders who have been there too long, that would kill the second account mule trader market so thankfully VI will never do it. Besides, there are some traders I count on for certain items that are always there and in the same spot.

Solutions to the problem would be to increase the number of traders (would increase the lag of an already laggy zone) or create a second bazaar zone (Like in Freeport).

Anything worth having is worth waiting for and 20 minutes does not seem like a long time to wait for a trader spot, unless you were running late for something else and wanted to get into trader mode before leaving the house.

The whole point I'm making is that... If the limit is reached the OLDEST should make way for current players.

I don't think with a LIMITED resource the players who are NOT online should be allowed to LOCK OUT online players - they just need to step aside.

I know that this is a touchy subject for so of you. I do try to be fair to others that are playing the game. I will put my computer on autoshutdown after so many hours of non-active. Actually a friend did this for my as I was not sure how to do this. That is the computer that I have my mulesalesman/woman on. Oh and I do make them a large character as I have had to robe out problem also.

I leave it up during what seem to be the busy hours in the bazaar on my server. and I do sell most of the things that I have. I even sold the water a 5pp one night. 2 stacks worth {you know what my dad use to say: "There's one born every minute."} It was done as a joke on a friend and I forgot to change it. 8)

If others would do this then I do not think that it would be that much of a problem. I do agree that if a trader is empty that sony should have a way to drop that player as it will take up space.

I think the highest I have seen has been 470ish.

Two very different thoughts on this thread -
First, I could not afford armor and weapons (solo player) until I paid for a second account that is used almost entirely as a trader alt. I have fun in the game being a business person. My main account has several tradeskillers that produce items for sale on my 'trader' account. Vendor diving for items to sell is actually rather fun. Are you going to limit my game to just fighting? Um, I thought that was what tradeskillers asked when people wanted them to quit baking and come fight, lol.

And finally - I loaded my trader up with several stacks of water and food (bought from the upstairs merchant) when she ran out of her newbie stuff. For laughs, I priced the water at 1p each and the mushroom thingys at 1p. I sold out every week. Who knows why people do it? It was easy money. Too easy not to make the short jog to fill empty slots with water and food.

Brell has hit 500 many times (in response to the above post), even a rant about people trying to mass buff and LD people on the brell rants boards.

Little trick some of my closest friends in EQ have is one of us with a 2nd account has a trader, 3 of us use that 1 trader to sell our wares and the person with the 2nd account keeps track of what each of us have and are selling. Granted you need to trust the people you doing this with which seems harder and harder to do now a days as I have seen even RL friends rip each other off in EQ. Still if you trust your friends this cuts down from having 3 traders taking up space to having 1 trader for 3 people. Also for me since I only have 1 computer and 1 account it helps me sell stuff because my friend leaves his trader running all the time where as I would be lucky to find 2 hours a week to sell in trader mode.

I have never read anything on the bard board (the concert hall) that supports people doing ae songs where anyone else may wander by - ie you do them in the non PVP part of the arena where no one (mob or pc) ever goes.

Anyone who does the ae songs in the bazaar or nexus is a moron.

In no way would I LIMIT the trader type player - however, as that type of player you need to know that the bazaar reaches the 500 limit. If you have been on a LONG time you will at some point becone the oldest in the bazaar. If you have not gone back and "refreshed" your character by doing something as simple as a search or steping out of trader mode and back in. Then you are not playing a trader ... You are a "Set-it and Forget-it" player. THOSE are the ones I think need to be bumped. If a player does need to setup and trade over night - NO PROBLEM 99% of the time the 500 limit is NOT reached and they are in no danger of losing the spot. But, if it is real busy and they are AFK then they would get bumped. It is only fair to those who want their turn too. Are you so gready that you cant come back to your computer every few hours and check your traders status.

                              @#$%

If YOUR play time is while I'm asleep then why are you worried about me leaving my character in the bazaar to sell stuff to you!?!?!?

Are you actually sitting in front of your computer for 4 hours spamming the bazaar every 5 minutes or so the entire time you've descided that you've got more of a right to be there then others?

If you're live in the bazaar then you don't need to be in trader mode - you can spam the zone and the auction channel with whatever it is you're selling - that was the whole point of the bazaar when VI put it in, that's why most of the tradeskill community bought SoL, that's what the tradeskill community had been drooling for pretty much since EQ came out - a way to sell all of your stuff without having to waste hours sitting around Greater Feymart or East Common Auction.

Maybe you enjoyed sitting around for your entire playtime in those auction zones telling folks to meet you at the first torch or by the bank, but most of us didn't - most of us wanted to be able to have an AFK merchant so that we could spend our time on line leveling, exploring or working on our tradeskills and then leave our character on while we were asleep, at school, work, dinner or whatever and come back and find that we've sold all of our stuff.

You are either totally and utterly missed the point of the bazaar or you are one of the most self absorbed people I have ever encountered my friend.

Yes I have more rights then the ASLEEP player... You set up 9+ hours ago during YOUR playtime and now at the peak time the bazaar is full but YOU get to keep a spot from someone who is ACTIVE NOW... That is Just WRONG!!!! You had your 9+ hours - It's the next guys trurn. ARE you THAT GREEDY!!!

An auto kick system ONLY WHEN THE BAZAAR IS FULL is the most FAIR way to handle the "Set-it and Forget-it" players.
