476 traders on Lanys this morning when I left for work, well above anything seen previously. I don't have a super system, so every visit to the bazaar is getting swampier.

After reading this post yesterday I was amazed that people would do such things (although it amazes me that people will gamble in bazaar 'casinos', too, so my amazement threshold must be low). But then I get home and find a mod rod on my cursor, and this morning some yokel bard's gone AFK in the next stall while singing a DoT; even with bard songs and messages off I was still getting the "... casts a spell on you, but you are protected." In red. Every six seconds. I'm not one to condone such things, but if that's not begging someone to train a guard into his singing range, I don't know what is.

      You can't. I tried.

Of course I caught him at keys in the nexus and had a few words with him about that. He told me to turn off bard songs, I had a few less polite words with him and explained that I had and the message still came through. He explained that it was a recommended technique from (the bard message boards?) and I explained exactly how annoying that message was.

        Eliminating bard AE spell spam

To get rid of the bard AE spell spam, just go into filters and turn off NPC spells. Worked for my bazaar mule when some bard next to me started to do that. Now if they would only add a filter for random numbers so we didnt have to see all the spam from the casino operators....

For the record, I've never seen Xev at 500, but I do kick out the people that set up /trader in my spot ^_^
It's people like you who make me not want to play these games. Who are you to think you have the right to kick anyone out of "your" spot.

Let me guess. You are so "ubah" that these "n00bs" don't deserve to be in the same trader stall as you.

I might have to put a character on that server specifically to sit by "your" spot in the bazaar and LD you every time I see you set up.

Bards do that to keep people away from them. No one likes to see all those messages so they tend to not stand next to him. This way he has plenty of room to sell his wares and not get crowded in.

              Water prices

This may be the answer to a question I was pondering yesterday. I did a search for combinables, and found several people selling water flasks for between 5g and 1p per flask. So, I'm pondering..why in the world would someone in the bazaar pay that when you can buy water upstairs?

After reading this post, I'm thinking we had one of those "10pp for a stack of water" folks on my server too, and that some traders took that as a cue that some people are legitimately looking to buy water at those prices.

I think that the 500 limit is the problem because people "Set-it and Forget-it" when selling. I think that a player who has set a character to sell overnight after they are long asleep has LESS right to be a trader then me when it is MY play time and I'm at the keyboard.

How to fix this. Simple... When a player is in Trader mode and has not hit a key or moved the mouse for 10 mins, have the game auto set the player as AFK. Next, when the limit of 500 is reached in the bazaar the oldest AFK player is auto kicked to non-Trader mode and the next request for trader is given to a new trader. Third, if the kicked player is still online 10 mins. after they are kicked from trader mode... Kick them from the game as asleep. Also, if ANY trader sells out of their items they are dropped on the spot from trader mode and kicked in 10 mins if they don't move or place items in trader mode to sell.

This allows servers with busy times in the bazaar to limit the AFK traders and still allows players to leave a trader on as long as the limit is not reached. It is fair and balanced to all who would use the bazaar.

                                How to beat the system...

use a macro program to feed key requests to the game... GET BANNED IF A GM FINDS OUT
Place your mouse on something that moves... If you need to do that you have NO LIFE

So, I think with a little more coding the bazaar should pop up a window every time the 500 limit is reach to the oldest 10 players with a random number 1000 to 9999 and the player must type in the number to "refresh" his spot in the bazaar within 60 seconds. Let this sound a warning sound so an AFK can rush to the computer but otherwise... kick the player.

Just My Opinion as a person who had to wait 20 mins a few days ago to get into trader mode.
